Being MVP for one game is overblown. Holmes had a good Super Bowl, but that doesn't make him a top 5 WR or even a top 20 WR. So when you say "over a Super Bowl MVP", the question is which Super Bowl MVP? Not a big deal to want to keep Braylon over Holmes, and it's logical.
Your answer is really no. The conditions were never made public, and we still don't know what the exact clauses are, which is why the thread is getting bumped. Any conditional pick is based on playing time and performance. But that's vague and doesn't mean anything.
If its playing time and the Jets performance, its has to jump to a 2nd. He hasn't missed snaps, and if the Jets go to the playoffs, its definitely going to a 2nd. If any info comes out about the details, this thread will have them.
Is there any way to get around this by cutting him? Similar to how we got screwed in that Vilma trade?
instead of a 3rd rd... it's not like we're losing an extra pick... a 3rd becomes a 2nd... it's a much smaller deal imo...
If you could find me a CB who could have done what Cromartie did for us this year in the 2nd round, I'd be upset with the trade.
This. and No one on this fucking site can tell me he wasn't worth a second rounder. His last return had a huge affect on the outcome of the game.
This is a stupid argument... si it's not okay to let Cro walk because we gave up a 2nd rder but it would be ok to let Holmes go because we only traded a 5th? Players should (and are) be kept or let go depending on their on-field contribution and financial value...
i think we'll be able to sign him to a pretty good deal, somewhere in the 6-7 mill annually ... hes been good, but not good enough to demand top CB money
He regularly gets beat so I dont understand how Cromarti can ask for anything above avg corner money. garcon got over 100yds and people still think Cro is a top corner? WTF!?!
There's not a better #2 corner in this league. Garcon earned more than half of his yards on the big touchdown reception. That was Cromartie's fault, but outside of that one mistake, he played a hell of a game.
Not a top corner, a solid #2. Revis is inhumanly good and we are spoiled by it. Manning is going to pick on the #2 ALL DAY, especially with us dropping so many into coverage a lot of times Cro was the only option going man-to-man. Yes he got burned on 1 play, but he played a pretty good game and was VITAL to our winning with that return.
This year isn't over... if it ends the way we want it to end the 2nd rounder would have been well worth it.
