:lol: but in all reality I'm not that crazy about this.. It just annoys me that we gave away a third rounder for a one season rental.. Hopefully its just a rumor and nothing more. I would hate to see that Cro is asking for some ridiculous contract and Tanny is gunna let him walk because of it..
Cro is the most replaceable because of other free agents, roster depth and the draft. You are not getting another good wr, even though wr is one of the most replaceable positions this year. The reason is there are few good wr free agents with guys like Jackson getting tagged. In addition, the Jets have 3 wr's and nothing behind them, so no up and coming young wr's, and the premier wr prospects will be gone by the time the Jets pick. So, bringing those 2 guys is vital. As for Cro, the situation is the exact opposite. The Jets have young guys on the roster including Wilson. There is a cb available who by all accounts wants to play here, and is a lot better than Cro, and if necessary there are plenty of good corners in this draft. So, even if the Jets deny this, this is the right course to take. However, with that said, if the contracts they want is in the Brandon Marshall range, I say keep one and let the other walk. If they want reasonable deals, than it is the right move.
I'm actually a little surprised by this. I expected them to sign either Holmes or Edwards, but not both. I figured they would try to resign Cromartie in order to keep the secondary strong since the secondary is key to Rex Ryan's blitzing.
It is a little questionable imo, we are supposed to be a run heavy team but if the plan is to move away from that and focus on the passing then so be it.
The one thing about Cro I said all year was that he hates putting his hands on a receiver.... but when you have long arms like his it makes no fucking sense. If he were physical he'd be a top 5 player. So many times he squares up 2 yards off the WR, and then does that annoying jump back move and bails out. No physicality. The scouting report on him was right. But you can't say he did bad here. He did well, not great, but well. K Dub 1 time.
Yep. Hopefully they feel comfortable enough with him to let him play up on the line more next season. I hated seeing him 10 yards off even when he was flanked outside.
Who was it that played corner for us that did that all the time? Drove me nuts. I think it was Barret?
If that first part was referring to the Colts in the AFCCG then I agree. Nobody passed on the Jets in 09 until Manning figured out the blitz schemes and just threw the ball to anyone not covered by Revis. My point was that Lito Sheppard, a pretty crappy player, was not abused in 09 because the defensive scheme protected him. Wilson already has better coverage skills than him, he just needs to learn to find the ball while it's in the air.
I don't see Wilson being ready to replace Cro. If we are letting Cro walk my guess is another plan is in the works. I am happy if this article is true. Holmes and Edwards are vital to this offense,
This is the way to go and I'm glad they're moving in this direction. Having both receivers played a big role in getting so far. To beat the elite teams, you need big time weapons, and Edwards and Holmes are just that. Yeah we spent a late 2nd round pick for Cromartie, it was worth it just for the fact we beat the Colts. Just forget about the pick and move on, we drafted Kyle Wilson for a reason. If we lose one of our receivers, our offense will obviously have a setback, and we can't have that happening.
I am a huge Edwards fan. Holmes didn't impress me as much as he should have. Cro... I like his swagger.
Cromartie is a Ticking Time Bomb.... Maybe the dumbest player in the league and good QB's on their game will probably always fake him out. See ya!
