I dont like this: Roto: He could be just stating the fact but thats a little troubling if we want him back.
I like it if we can get a pick for him or whatever is offered. Sione is doing great and with Pitoitua coming back we'll have some BIG NT options anyway.
Doesn't even make sense. Neither of his injuries with the Jets had anything to do with what surface he was playing on.
hahaha its all good, I still want him back for the Jets but I could really seem him going to 3 other teams: Skins (for money only), Dallas, SD. All 3-4 Teams that would love NT upgrades.
A bit more on the same story. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/27494/on-the-surface-kris-jenkins-done-with-jets
That sucks I want him to come back.... Anyone know what kind of field Carolina was using during his time? I think the surface has very little to do with his injury problems.
Jenkins owes us to come back, he's done nothing for this team on the field for most of the last 2 years and he's been paid a boatload. I'll be really disappointed if he walks away from us.
They have grass, and I agree with you for the most part. Certain fields to have more grip to them and could cause more injuries, or if the surface is harder. The equipment managers should provide the right gear though. Remember many Giant players were complaining about the new stadium. I think this just might be a scare tactic though on Jenkins' part.
Ropati is too long in frame to play NT at least IMO. his best asset is his agility for his size and which makes him far better suited at DE IMO. hell i could be wrong but with Ellis long in the tooth and having nobody of mention outside DeVito whos a B grade player it also makes less sense to not involve him in the rotation. like I said I could be wrong but to me his build would make his play at DE far far easier than playing NT. wish him the best of luck one of my favorite players. pretty fuckin sad to see someone so dominant take so few snaps in a matter of the last 2 yrs.
Pitoitua and Sione both did a very good job filling in the first time Jenkins went down. Last season Rex was very high on him and noticed a improvement in his game. Kevin Williams is built similarly, I know he's in a 4-3 so his role is much different but Pitoitua's height and strength are great for what Rex needs him to do. Our run D would be sick with Pitoitua and Pouha both out on the line.
I had high hopes for Ropati and mostly agree that hes too tall for NT, BUT that said, on passing downs he could be equally as effective. I would also like to see him in Nickel/Dime packages which I think would also benefit his frame and agility. RE: Big Jenks. I'd be sad to see him go, but equally happy to give the guys we have more of a go, and possibly a pick up in the draft. For me Jenks is ALWAYS going to have this type of injury, and more frequently now hes getting older. Time to move on for both parties.
oh i love Ropati as a prospect he was my preseason fav before Hard Knocks. all the more wrenching to have seen him go down last year. well that just goes with what i was saying. Pouha is a perfect NT. i think Ropati is better suited for DE. and in dime and nickel packages they can both clog the middle
Pitoitua as a NT option? He's a bit tall, and not heavy enough, for that. His center of gravity is pretty high for a 3-4 NT.
He did it before and did it well. Having arms that long as it's advantages for a NT. Plus Rex has him gaining weight, the stats we see online still show his 09 weight.
He can be in a rotation, but at 6'8", he would need to be around 400 to have the same center of gravity as a guy who is 6'2" or 6'3" and around 350.
