I love him. But nobody pays a corner esp one whose 30 and off of a serious injury 20 mil per season. If he really wants to come back and will accept competitive money he'd be a great addition. Plus he's in reality a Jet . But he'll go to the highest bidder. I just hope our owner doesn't do something stupid.
Revis is an awesome player but he and his agents are assholes. I'd rather he go pad his bank account elsewhere.
Geno Smith!!!!He has shown pro bowl flashes(just ask him) and the ability to miss meetings to go to the movies....His hobbys include throwing interceptions, bad reads, locking onto one reciver, being inacurate,he is the only QB that can make Jets fans miss Mark Sanchez. Excited yet?
I doubt we would have made the playoffs with Revis this season, but the only reason why posters here don't want him back is because they despise him and consider him to be a greedy "traitor". If we can get Revis on a reasonable (around a 12 million ) two to three year contract, I'm all for him coming back. He's a Hall of fame Cornerback with top notch technique who has shown zero signs of regression... and Todd Bowles's scheme is also dependent on having top flight Corners.. Anyone who says Revis is not worth 12 million does not understand the game or they haven't watch the Patriots this season.
I don't really know where to start. I can pick from a number of your posts. You just said everyone knew the Jets shouldn't have traded Revis to begin with. I don't even know how you can take YOURSELF seriously saying that. We ended up with the DROY because of that trade and one of the best D linemen in the league most likely for years to come. You're just making shit up there. You refuted "our LBs are ancient" with "Pace had one good year left" and really all you did was prove the point NCJetsfan was trying to make. Our two best offensive linemen are our two oldest linemen. The rest of the line needs help on top of that. Ignoring the O-line is how you dig yourself a hole. Our safeties are solid? How can you say that after how much of a mess last year was? That position was in flux more than any position other than CB. Oh but we have "that Williams guy" and Milliner is great "when healthy" which he never is. Do you want me to continue? Edit: just saw you said Revis is still in his prime. Just do your homework, please.
I think even if Revis was still on the team this season we would have finished 7-9 at best,We don't have a QB who's even a game manager
...and he also had a PERFECT QB RATING his last game, even with that "bozo Rex" and "all the holes" we have on our team .... and he's only entering his 3rd year, which is when many players make a big leap and emerge as stars....but let's just kick him to the curb anyway, we don't have the kind of patience in NY to let players develop. smh. And I know a Packers fan who keeps telling me "you Jets fans are way too impatient, you need to give Geno time to develop"...but what does he know, he only roots for one of the most successful teams in NFL history...lol.
I know a Packers fan that told me the day we drafted Geno that he wouldn't hang in the NFL. So we have the same source. Now what do we do?
We wouldn't have won 3 extra games with Revis or any corner. It's not like some people think that simplistic.
Dude, you must be about 13 years old. Either that or you're not dealing with reality. Coples is young, but he isn't really an OLB. He's playing out of position. Pace and Babin ARE old. Yes, Davis is young and good, but Harris is old and slow, and leaves too many plays on the field because he can't get to them. We have a great DL but a below average LB corps, and the LB corps is key in a 3-4 D alignment. Pryor was mediocre last year. Hopefully, he will be improved if he is able to return to SS, but there are no guarantees. Allen is average. Landry is older and average or maybe a little above average. All three of them are SSs and can't or shouldn't be on the field at the same time. There isn't a single quality FS on the roster. The team has been incapable of creating TOs, and getting TOs is key to getting off the field, winning games and getting to the SB. Unless Bowles and his CS are miracle workers and can miraculously get this team creating TOs, they're not competing for the playoffs next season, much less competing for the SB. Pace should not be starting. If he's still on the roster, he should be on the bench. He is glacially slow. Babin is a role player, a pass rusher, not a starter. There's little depth either at OLB or ILB. Milliner hasn't proven anything yet. He's had a handful of good games, and a bunch where he looked like a wasted pick. Williams showed promise, but you can't count on that. The same goes for McDougle. Kerley disappears for long stretches during games and for long strings of games. He's very inconsistent. Decker is the only good, reliable WR they have. Two good TEs? Amaro can't block, and Cumberland a HUGE disappointment. Who is your 2nd "solid" TE? Sudfield? Pantale? Ivory's a very good RB, but can't catch the ball, which is important in Gailey's offense. Powell is a nice back, can do everything well, but is not great at anything. He's an average or above average RB, nothing else. Hopefully, Gailey will be able to turn Geno into a consistent quality starting QB who doesn't turn the ball over, but until that happens, you can't count on it. Geno may not even sniff the playing field, because Bowles is on record as saying that if a player turns the ball over, he will be on the bench, not the field. Brick looks to be about done. Unless they can work miracles with the OL, Winters sucks and looks like a wasted pick. Aboushi is decent. Mangold is still a very good C, but is getting older. Giacomini is mediocre at RT. Colon is awful and should be gone. I have some hope for Dozier, but until he shows he can handle starting, you can't count on him. The team ideally should have a new RT and two new starting OGs if it h0pes to compete for a SB. Even then Brick can be a liability. This should be his last season unless he miraculously finds a fountain of youth this year. I'm optimistic about what Gailey and Bowles will bring to this team, but thinking we have a chance to compete for the SB is pie in the sky, totally unrealistic thinking.
with Sherman, Peterson and Haden all netting contracts for around 14M per season, i'd say that is the market for Revis. will probably take 14.5M to fulfill his ego. it's a little steep, but i'd kick the tires at that price. If he gets more elsewhere, then so be it (so long as he's off the Patriots). but if someone else signs him for 12M, like this past year, i'll be really pissed (again)..
No, I refuted "our LBs are ancient" with Quinton Coples (a young rising star) and Demario Davis (another young rising star). So you missed my point there entirely, evidently you don't read my posts very carefully. When I said "everyone thought letting Revis go was stupid", I was referring to several NFL analysts (can't expect me to remember their names years later lol), I think one of them was Casserly ironically who's consulting with Woody now....but they were all respected NFL analysts. But you can say "I'm just making up shit" if you want, that's a smart comment lol... I never said to "ignore the O-line", so you apparently just made that up hoping nobody would call you out on it...smh. .....I can go on and on but really I don't have time to waste on someone who obviously doesn't really read my posts.
We would have won the 2 NE games if Revis was here and not there. And probably the GB game as well. So there's 7-9 without even trying.
i look back at Vontae Davis 9M per season contract done this last offseason, and i get pissed all over again. that's the guy we should have landed last season. much better than any FA CB available now, and a very reasonable price. had a tremendous year.
Truth4U2 - credibility = 0 Congratulations! You've just joined nyjunc as the most ignorant, least knowledgeable poster on the site (and on ignore).
I will try to say this as respectfully as I can .... most of your points are valid, but they are made with a "glass half empty" thought process. In other words, you are the definition of a pessimist. You will say things like "he is a good player, but he's getting a little old", or "Pryor has a chance to improve, but there are no guarantees". (as if anything in life is really guaranteed). Player X showed promise, but he is unproven. Team Y has a lot of talent, but also a lot of questions. ....... and on and on ........ ......we just have a fundamentally different philosophy on how to view the team. I choose to focus on the positives and go from there, I choose to be optimistic until proven wrong......you choose to focus on the negatives instead, and you choose to be pessimistic until proven wrong. Given this basic difference in philosophy, we can't have a meaningful discussion because we will never be able to convince the other of our way of thinking. For me, being an optimist makes me happier overall in life, but everyone is different I guess...
By what standrd can you even meaasure that? And, IIRC, a big turning point in the Packer game was the long TD to Jordy Nelson. Nelson beat Revis for a long TD also, so how would Revis have changed the tone of the Jets-Pack game?
Well, in your first post you said that if this team signed Demaryius Thomas and Darrelle Revis and the rest of the roster was "unchanged", this would be a Super Bowl team... So that means you'd be ignoring every other position including offensive line. I'll give you two things: (1) Demaryius Thomas and Darrelle Revis would make this team better (although signing either is very unlikely anyway, and this ALONE would eat about 30M+ of cap space BEFORE resigning ANY of this team's free agents, extending Mo, signing other players, signing draftees etc)... (2) this team does have some strengths and building points. But you're gonna say this team is two great players (a WR and CB) away from being super bowl contenders? Come on now
