Any mention of great cornerbacks must include Dick "Night Train" Lane. Set the NFL record for INT's with 14 IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON. Devastating hitter and could cover as well. Member of the NFL's All-Time 75th Anniversary team.

EDIT: He set the record in 12 games, in an era when teams passes much less than they do now. It's like someone getting 20 picks in today's game.

The Jets cannot talk about acquiring players that are actively on other teams rosters. It would be tampering. Considering Woody was just recently accused of tampering, specifically with Revis, for simply mentioning he'd want him on the Jets in a press conference I highly doubt he'd be so stupid as to discuss him further. Woody is a dip shit, but he's not a retard.

Revis has good agents. That's almost certainly where this is coming from.

by all accounts Lane is one of the greatest but INTs alone does not tell us that. In 2005 Ty Law had 10 for us and he was AWFUL that season.

    Agreed

Picks, like sacks can be extremely overrated by people. No matter how many you rack up, it's still a small sample size of how many snaps you played that season.

agreed on picks and sacks. they tend to get overrated because they are the easier to digest than game film to fully see a players impact.

in regards to Lane though, he was also one of the most vicious hitters to ever play CB.
He was a two way player through and through. quite possibly the best ever..

I'm not disagreeing on Lane. I was just commenting on the INT stat.

Sammy Baugh was the greatest 2-way player ever as well as the greatest 3-way player ever.

Let me guess, you're a regular reader of the National Inquirer and People magazine?
....I couldn't care less how trendy the guy is in internet message boards and the local tabloids, if he will help my team WIN then welcome aboard MEVIS, REVI$, or whatever other stupid nicknames of the moment he's known by this week on fan message boards! The guy is the best CB in the league and he's in his prime, so I couldn't care less about all the other chatter or BS swirling around him in fan circles.
