You've said a lot of dumb things the past 24 hours, but this confirms you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Thanks for your insightful post lol, I'm glad you helped teach me with all of your supreme wisdom there.\

...so you're against putting the best players you can on the field, you don't want the Jets to field a team with great players.....ooookaaaayyyyy got it.

Serious question, how old are you? It may answer a lot of questions and will probably help me just put you on ignore.

I'd say somewhere in the $35 - 40 million range, give or take, for three years, maybe one guaranteed. Probably there's not much upside left there anymore but three years of very good to excellent service is about right.

Didn't read all posts but ill share my opinion

Initially I thought, no that's ok. He is good but is his 13 million going to get us a ring? Is it going to help our QB situation? Is it going to help us long term ?

    But then I realized

This league is so close, even last place teams can jump into playoffs, and Revis could help our defense a lot and maybe swing 3 -4 games. Then the real icing is that you immediately make the Pats, our division rivals, worse...

So fuck it, lets get him back

    Correct.

Getting Revis back would be mixed in with many other moves, hopefully, and a good draft. In that case, yes, having Revis would help tremendously.

If Revis comes back, it is likely Cro will follow. Our corners are set. Two veterans, one being the best in the league, and two young guys being groomed for the future. Our secondary is immediately ten times better than last season.

I'm 39, and I have a Masters Degree and an IQ probably twice yours. Which probably explains your adolescent insults when you can't follow my train of thought or understand my theories on the team.

I said that the Jets would come after Revis more than a year ago. I am still counting the amount of four letter words in the replies. Ha Ha. I win.

Most of this thread has gone full retard. The only way Revis goes to the Jets is if they outbid (overpay) every other team. That is NOT in the best interest of a team that has too many holes on offense.

A pitiful, wretched excuse for logic.

If you're telling the truth, which I highly doubt, this is extremely alarming. I stopped taking you seriously two days ago because you showed you weren't capable of having a discussion. Plenty including myself have tried to break down why your "let's just have all the best players and forget the cap!" argument makes no sense, but you don't want to hear it.

You would rather tell us how we have a young stud LB corps (2 players), a stud safety (that had a bad rookie year), "some guy named Williams" who solidifies our CB rotation and how all we need is Demaryius Thomas and Revis to contend for a title. Nevermind your theories on Geno and how we are going to be a-ok with him. And let's not forget the master plan of signing Revis AND Cro AND some linemen AND some WRs... which was the ultimate sign you have no friggen clue what the salary cap is, how it works and why it's important to not screw the pooch when it comes to managing it. What's even scarier is you saw Mike Tannenbaum do what you're suggesting, and you saw how badly it turned out.

There are VERY few people that would read that and think "39 year old with a masters" and I know I certainly didn't.

This board seems to be incredibly split on this topic, would love to see a poll on it. Is there a way to incorporate one into this thread without starting a new one?
With an option for sign him between $ and $ so the ones on the fence have somewhere to vote?

Why the hell would we want him? We were more than generous with the guy and he still cried about money. The only reason to sign hm would be to keep him out of New England. but I doubt that we can pry him away from the patriots.

Just for the record, we definitely could sign Revis, Cro, a lineman, and DT.

Sure, if you want to lose one of Wilkerson or Richardson over the next two years. Both are borderline elite and will get borderline elite money. Revis is going to command at LEAST $14 mil considering that's what Sherman makes. DT is going to get elite money. Mangold and Brick already make elite money.

At some point you have to take a step back and look at the big picture.

    That's not necessarily true either.

There's a million ways you can do this, including getting rid of Chris Johnson and Percy Harvin to clear another $12 million.

    It definitely can be done.

I'm not saying it's smart or what we should do, but it can be done.

Oh well in that case there's a ton of shit we can do. I'm just saying, big picture there is almost no way you can do what the 39-year-old with a masters degree and an IQ double mine wants to do. Unless of course you want to just fall in the same hole we fell in with Tanny.

If we could keep him around for 12 mil/year without having to deal with him crying poverty then I'm all for it. I thought we should've grabbed him from waivers last year. I agree with you that what happens on the field is way more important than what happens off the field. But what happens off the field is not irrelevant either...especially when a team is overpaying on a superstar; that raises the bar for other players when they're negotiating new contracts. With that said, I doubt that he'll come here.
