I don’t think I’m missing the point. Up until 2 years ago, Matt Stafford would have been included in this tier. I mean, the Niners just made the NFC title game with a 7th round pick playing QB. Now they got their doors blown in because said 7th round pick got hurt and they had to pivot to their 4th string QB (Jets Legend Josh Johnson) but they were competitive with a very average to even below average QB for most of the season. Say what you will about Carr but surely you can at least agree he’s a step up from Purdy, right?
The worst part of that game was when Johnson got knocked out and they had to put Purdy back out there. Man did that team piss off the quarterback gods this year or what??
If we traded Zach last year, we'd have gotten at least a second for him. But now he's worth far less because he was bad for two years. If you're bad as a rookie, teams will think you have a chance. If you're bad two years in a row, then teams won't take you seriously anymore.
The same reason we would have gotten a second is why they didn’t trade him. He showed some level of improvement and then they surrounded him with weapons and he still couldn’t progress.
I agree. I was just responding to why the Cardinals got a 2nd and 5th for Josh Rosen, but we wouldn't get that now for Zach.
JD used our most valuable pick ever on Wilson. There was no way he would have lost face and cashed him out after 1 year.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...er-to-derek-carr-during-his-visit/ar-AA17MoI9 Anyone see this. Supposedly we have already made Carr and offer and it said to be "irrefusable" and "very ambitious". If true, it sounds like Rodgers is a backup plan and we went all in on Carr.
Anyone wanna guess how many current NFL qbs have won the Lombardi Trophy? 5. And one is Nick Foles. That's incredible. Obviously that will change in the coming years but i just thought it was a fun fact.
The AFC transformation is pretty interesting. Roethlisberger, Manning, Brady, Rivers to Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert and maybe Lawrence ends up in that group. Herbert really isn’t either. The NFC is a relative mess for quarterbacks. I personally think Green Bay would be pretty silly to not take one more crack at it with Rodgers having a year under his belt with those receivers. And I don’t get why he’d want to come to the Jets with that GB roster and conference layout.
Not sure I trust an article were he blatantly misspelled both irrefutable and ambitious in the two key sentences, but that's just me. Never heard of this guy before. Having said that, I'm warming up to Carr more and more.
I wasn't comparing their styles of play or even their specific attributes, it just gives me vibes of when the Jets overpaid for O'Donnell basically because of one good season and then he fell flat.
You don’t think we’ll overpay Carr? No matter what the jets gonna overpay (and have to overpay) any of the QB choices to lure them the NYJ. That’s the way it is gonna have to be. Let’s just hope we get the right guy who is a fit and succeeds.
Carr (and Rodgers) have a much longer track record of performance than Jones. Whether Carr or Rodgers would get us to the playoffs isn't certain, but I feel they'd be more certain than Jones IMO.
Any of the QBs available will make the offense better. No doubt they have Longer track record but also they are both on the down side while jones is on the upside and younger. He s def a risk. AR and Carr are no longer runners. Jones gives another dimensions imo. I don’t see Jones going anywhere anyways. He still with the Giants.
