Great idea. But he already works for San Diego. Isn't that a conflict of interest? That would be like Bil James consulting the Red Sox and the Astros. Hopefully Wolf takes the job.

As long as Terry Bradway gets the axe with Rex & Idzik I'm on board.

Ron Wolf is just going to advise Woody to hire his son, Eliot.

I thought Wolf rejected the offer?

This is what Woody should have done when he bought the team, hire people that have a clue.

All the news coming out is positive no matter who is hired as a consultant.

Hiring one guy, no matter who he is, would be a mistake, as he'd just advise for some of his buddies or kin to get the job.
Getting 3 or 4 and creating an advisory team to make suggestions is totally the way to go. Kinda have to wonder what's taken Woody so long to do something like this?
No matter, I couldn't be more excited about the direction we're heading.

Woody's been crucified in the past for being a bone head, but you have to give him props here for finally getting things going in the right direction.

Thank god Woody isn't making decisions by himself.

my hope was that Woody realizes his football limitations, and brings in a panel of advisors to bring football stability to this organization.
a football board of directors in a sense.

guys who can help fortify the team's identity and goals into something that can transcend individual GM or coaches.
have input into the key strategic moves like the hiring/firing of GM, coach, scouting leads, etc. have input on how to address the QB position.

talking to guys like Casserly and Wolf is a good first step.
I'd actually like to make that a permanent step, and put people like them on a strategic advisory payroll.

Wolf makes more sense than Casserly. He actually has a background that shows he knows how to rebuild a franchise!

Not a bad resume if you ask me.

If Ron Wolf is involved, I am relieved. I think their (Ron & Charley) input will be invaluable for the Jets.

At least they might convince him to hire the GM first and let him have input on the coach. Hard to run a franchise with the coach and GM not on the same program.

I like Casserly on TV, but not as a GM. He was pretty darned bad as a GM. He was hired because he is on the newly-formed NFL Leadership Development Council (or whatever it's called)). Ron Wolf is GREAT hire, but I'm sure he wouldn't be interested in the GM job since he is retired. It would be a coup, if Woody could hire him as the GM, however. With Ron Wolf as GM, I would predict the Jets to win a SB within 5 years.

You'd be lucky to have a Teddy Bridgewater type at QB. He's light years better than anyone the Jets have had at QB in a long time.

Casserly isn't a bad drafter and I would not mind him being apart of our war room. He was apart of a contingent that took Mario Williams over Bush, traded up for Babin, drafted Andre Johnson, Stephen Davis back in DC, drafted Champ Bailey. Yeah Heath Shuler was a dud of a pick but honestly he's not THAT bad of a draft evaluator. He inherited an expansion team in Houston and took some pieces that kept the team competitive. As someone who just gives input on the draft, he's not that bad. Its the other stuff he didn't do a good job in and he's not a good head coach finder, so hopefully his input doesn't become final.
