I just spit water onto my desk  . That's a really classy gesture by the Jets. I'm actually taken back by that, did not expect anything like that to happen.
This stuff goes along way with players in the NFL. I was supriesd to here that the Jets had turned down the opputunity to match the Chiefs, I guess they really wanted to move on. I will trust them on that, I think Schotty sees LT as a great fit with Greene because they are 2 different backs. In Mike we trust.
Are you kidding? Do you have any idea how much it would cost to take out a full page ad in the Times?
everyone is saying that's classy but whats not classy is making a nearly lateral personal move and not paying jones 5 mil i think lt will be better, but i don't think jones was the problem. 5 mil for 2 years is nothing. my guess is they want to implement some new stuff in the offense and a short pass to LT is a pretty good underneath option. I think LT can be better, but who knows how good he still really is (that said, 12 td's is still alot despite the yardage)
Jones wanted his original $6+ mill for next season. He wouldn't take the pay cut so he got cut. If he wasn't going to take $5.2million from the Jets before they cut him then why would they take it after? And can we please stop bringing up rumors from rotoworld that lead to a web page that PFT pulled down because they didn't feel the source was reliable. Florio practically put out a retraction when that link went dead.
Must something in the water around here. I hate being so sceptical, but I fuckin hate this. We let him go, He didn't want to go, he wanted money. And for all the above that was mentioned in their poor grovelling tribute. This to me says PR spin. TJ was a leader and popular in the Locker room, so maybe this was to douse flames. I would have preferred a low key in-house resolution of this, IF there is an issue. You let a player go, just move on, its business.
I like it, I don't think it was about getting good publicity because what team gives a shit about that. It's not like it was trashy or underhand to let him go, it was just business as usual in the NFL.
Bottled in the Cairngorms hehe. The Jets players did, this wasn't about the Fans, this was about the locker room. As has been reported TJ was respected, liked and a leader.
Maybe that had something to do with it. I tend to think this was Rex Ryan being himself though. It seems similar to when he sent the game ball to Marty Schottenheimer after the Jets knocked the Chargers out of the playoffs.
For the JETS to let this happen over a million bux is tragic. It screams cheap bastards all over it! They fucked up and this was just them covering their asses.... If they were classy they would have kept him because what he brings to the team. Throw in the price of the ad and this screams, dare I say it....PSL's! Is LT just Favre part Deux? I liked TJ and I like our RB's.....Leon, LT and Especially Greene but this just stinks.
When it comes to pushing players buttons, no one does this better than Ryan. No wonder players love to play for him. If Ryan was the orchestrator in this, then it was out of respect for TJ's ex team mates.
