Texas beat USC because Vince Young had the best game of his career against a bad defense. Bush may not have had a good game, but a guy named Lendale White did... Matt Leinart was pretty much unstoppable in that game. He just didn't have the TD's because White was scoring like a mad man...Leinart had almost 400 yards against one the best defenses in the country...
Cutler and Mangold would be very nice. You wouldn't hear me complain. I just think it is time the Jets make their move at QB. Whether it is staying at 4 and taking Cutler or moving up in the draft and taking the best QB in the draft. We need a new face for the franchise DESPERATELY... Name the face of the franchise...I can't because I don't think we have one. It used to be Curtis Martin.
I am starting to lean more towards getting a Qb at #4 and two oline at 29 and 35 instead of D'brick at #4. I am really glad that I dont need to make the choices this year it is going to be huge if we dont get the right guys with the 3 good picks we got this year it is going to be a while before we get back to the playoffs or get another chance like this. (and before any of you smart asses says it, yes I know that you are glad that I am not the one choicing the draft this year or any year for that matter.)
Not true... Bush had a decent performance, amassing a total of 279 all-purpose yards (82 rushing yards, 95 receiving yards, 102 kickoff return yards) and one touchdown scored, but it was vastly overshadowed by his runner-up in the Heisman, Vince Young (467 yards of total offense, 200 rushing, 267 passing, three rushing touchdowns), and Bush's teammate Lendale White (123 yards and 3 touchdowns). Courtesy of wikipedia. I think that he's talking about that play where Leinart scrambled for the first down and fumbled out of bounds.
Good point. Your right. Can't really say it is Vilma at this point. I guess that is why this draft is so important.
Vilma is probably our best player, but he isn't a Ray Lewis yet so he can't be considered the face of the Orginization. We just need someone we can build around and can expect big plays from every Sunday... I think Cutler and Leinart are two guys that could provide that.
I think we should take Cutler or Leinart but not Young if we are going to take a Qb. I don't think we should trade it away unless it's to Denver for their 2 first round picks. Can you imagine having three first rounders to pick!!!
I know we drafted Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Chad Pennington, & Anthony Becht. I think this year we could use just as many, as long as we don't pick another Becht.
Becht was a hell of a lot better then Jolly though. I can't beleive we wasted our first round pick on Jolly, at least we signed back baker, he's not bad. That draft in 2000 was crazy though, that was our franchise for a long time. Let's hope Mangini learned somethin from Parcells and Belichick.
WE DIDN'T TRADE OUR FIRST ROUNDER FOR DOUG JOLLEY!!!! We traded down from 26th overall to the raiders second round pick along Doug Jolley and two 6th round draft picks...one of those 6th round picks (I believe was used to trade up and grab Kerry Rhodes and the other two were used on Joel Dressen and Cedric Houston... Raiders got the CB from Nebraska... Who did better? I say Jets by a fucking lot...
well considering that our season went into the shitter real quick which in term made jolley's numbers horrible. I really wasn't happy when we made the trade because I never really liked jolley. I hope he can justify the trade by having a good year this season or else the trade for him is a bust. Now i will say that the picks we got from them did help our team in the long run by adding quality players (rhodes, houston and i guess we can add dressen). Oh and on a sidenote..... reached 500 baby...YEAH!!!
Its a no brainer only if you are a beat reporter. Not a GM, not a coach , not a player etc. Thanks rich for your opinions, but you know what opinions are like....certain body part? everyone has one?
