I'd be panicking if he hadn't been declared a 4-3 starter atm

Couples looks like he's playing in slow motion - but he makes plays playing in slow motion so somehow he gets to the guy with the ball and makes the tackle. So I don't care if he looks like he cant breathe and play football the same time - as long as he makes plays that works. When he's in slow motion and not making the plays he should be - then its time to start worrying. When the preseason starts I better see Couples name being called for tackles - thats all I can say.

The reports i read prior to the draft did not have Coples picked at 16th so i must be on the same planet.

I was listening to Joe and Evan the other day and Evan got a text from somebody at Jets camp saying that Ducasse was easily handling Coples. I think that worries me more than anything else lol

The acc is a basketball conference, or like a rec league in football.

we are a few days into camp, I don't think anyone would panic if we didn't go through the Gholston years but that is still in the backs of everyones minds. I loved the pick then(yes I'm biased), I love it now. I think he'll be a big help to us this year and beyond but right now it's just way too early to panic.

You don't think it's possible that Ducasse is finally starting to turn a new leaf with a full off-season? The guy is a monster - he just needs time to get around the game mentally.

With Coples playing 4-3 DE, why would he consistently be matched up with a guard ?

He shoulda been going against Dbrick no ?

Im not worried unless I see real red flags.

Like if people say he still looks robotic in 3-4 weeks, ill be concerned

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he have his monster junior season as an inside rushing tackle?

I assumed that we would run the 4-3 more than the 4-3 sub front

He had his reps scaled back, right now he's not a starter in the 4-3. If they're keeping him in his confort zone, CLang's right, he rushing inside.

Those are some heavy 4-3 DEs you guys have. Quite the contrast with the light DEs the Pats are using in TC right now (neither starter is heavier than 260). It will be interesting to see which set works better.

I see that sub-package as being a huge plus against the Pats. If Coples can bring the interior pressure Brady might cry.

There is no reason to rush him, he should be allowed to develop at his own pace.

I know the BB hate will flow from this post, but...

Why inform the media that they're cutting back on Coples load anyway? Why not just keep that stuff in house.

A lot of times it's maddening as a Pats fan not getting answers, but we'll never know how good or bad Jones or Hightower are doing by anything the coaching staff says. The media covering training camp will make their untrained observations, bu the most you'll get out of BB is "He's doing some good things and some not so good" or He's picking things up, but has a long way to go"

You can't have a week of meaningless speculation off of that. The fact that Coples may be in the weeds a bit in his rookie training camp is no shocker. Most rookies have to deal with it. The truth is, we won't know anything about this guy until he's played real games for awhile.
