From my point of view the Jets are totally desperate for a stud, elite QB. There are two available in this draft. There is also a FA named Briggs available who is better than Vilma and Betts would be cheap for us for years. I would love to see a bold off season by the Jets which to me means landing either Quinn or Russell.
i still think vilma can shine alot more than this year...in a 3-4...but yes i would agree with you legler
Not going to go as far as saying he sucks. He just isnt a great middle linebacker. He doesnt even have a nasty linebacker attitude. Thats what bothers me most about him. He never levels people. I would go as far as saying he is a very NICE tackler. Nice...meaning.....kind. He just doesnt have that killer instinct. Hes is more of an x's and o's guy..but doesnt try to destroy or maker a runner pay. Its his makeup.
We aren't getting either since we already drafted Clemens so forget about that, and that is if and it is pushing it that either last that long, and I've already heard the Bears want to franchise Briggs, and Betts maybe the next Blaylock
Drafting Clemens means nothing. Like the Pats we will draft a QB every year until we get the right one. We have a young staff and we aren't making the playoffs next year anyway. Time to stop screwing around and take a step toward a SB with an elite QB prospect.
Prepare to be disappointed then because there is no way either of them are coming to the Jets. And Briggs is a 4-3 OLB, and not a 3-4 ILB. I even remember reading something where he said he wouldn't want to play in a 3-4. It might have been a different player, but I'm pretty sure it was him.
How come when you compare the d-lines you make no reference to the schemes? All d-lines are not created equal. You can't compare a 4 man front to a 3 man front. It's like apples and oranges. Even if one knows nothing about the completely different techniques involved with each scheme, one should still be able to count and realize there is a difference. Just the same, you can't expect the same production you would receive out of a 4-3 MLB from a 3-4 ILB.
Then watch another team because, as you say, "we aren't making the playoffs next year anyway". Nice way to approach the offseason.
I think we are going to be very bold this off season. When I say probably true, in my heart I'm thinking balls to the wall. Right now we don't have a playoff team going into next year and I believe they are well aware of it. I hope so. I do watch other teams by the way every time I can.
While I am beginning to sour on Penny a little bit, the biggest problem still stands with this deal if your intent is one of the 2 elite QB prospects, that it is very unlikely either will be there at the 6th spot
After picking Clemens in the 2nd round last year, I highly doubt they'll be trading a bunch of picks or players just to select another QB in the first round. If they really are following the Pats' method, they may draft a QB each year, but it won't be on the first day each year. Expecting them to get either of the top two QB's in the first round is a pipe dream.
Trade to 6 and then trade again up to #2??? Absolutely no way we do this. Bad, desperate teams do this... You basically want us to trade every draft pick for one player? Are you that nuts?
ok I agree but the main point still stands that we had a porous dline last year, so are you trying to tell me that it is impossible that a good MLB in a 4-3 scheme will never be good in the 3-4 scheme? Because to me the fact that it is a 3-4 scheme makes it even more critical to have that solid dline so that our LBs will be able to plug the gaps without having olinemen in their face over and over again
