EDIT: Late, nvm. ^^via Biggs twitter #Jets put a priority on Cowboys DE Marcus Dixon. When they got him, they no longer wanted Gilbert. They did however put a claim on him.
I believe Brad Biggs is a Chicago beat writer. I've heard that the Jets put a claim in for both Dixon and Gilbert and have decided to go with Dixon on the 53 man roster.
Dixon is proven in the 3-4, so that makes more sense. About 5 minutes ago, Manish tweeted that Gilbert will be added to the Jets' Practice Squad. Hopefully this happens.
Only if another team doesn't claim Gilbert to their 53 roster. BTW, I've adjusted the title to thread...things are very fluid right now.
...but aren't the reports saying Gilbert is a free agent? To me, that means he cleared waivers and is free to sign anywhere he wants.
My bad, you're right.....he wasn't claimed off the Bear's PS. JG was cut. Here's what I've been hearing.....Gilbert's agent is waiting to see if any team is willing put him on their 53 roster...vs the Jet's PS. The Jet's appartently have no interest putting Gilbert on their roster, only PS. The Jets would have to cut another player to accommodate Gilbert.
If he agrees to the PS, he could make the roster if people go down. The PS gives him a chance to learn the system smoothly instead of cramming it all in. I'd like to see him here. Plenty of potential.
Yeah, Rotoworld and Biggs have updated their info... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5204 Updating a previous item, DL Jarron Gilbert has not been awarded to the Jets on waivers. The Jets pulled back their waiver claim when they were awarded Marcus Dixon from the Cowboys. Gilbert has cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Biggs' twatter: #Jets put a priority on Cowboys DE Marcus Dixon. When they got him, they no longer wanted Gilbert. They did however put a claim on him. Seems unlikely now. Sorry to get everyone riled up.
Why the heck would you ever state something is from Rotoworld? You quote the source not the websites quoting the source.
so gilbert is going to the PS? why the hell wouldnt we send Patrick turner down there as well? besides, I still want to see freddie barnes brought into our PS...
This may prove to be our best pickup. He was hobbled during the beginning of pre-season but came on during the last 2 games getting a sack in each game. With Rex and the coaching staff mentoring him he might live up to the obvious athletic ability.
