WR and pass rush were equally as important. I’d much rather address OL through the draft. You can find good starters in the 2nd and 3rd rounds that you won’t have to pay $15 mil a year to the next 5 years.
I thought the OL really started to gel towards the end if the season. I don't think it's as bad as people think.
Basically a two year, $27 mil deal. Cap hit of 12.7 mil this year, 13 mil next year and then almost no dead money in 2023 if we choose to move on. That’s a pretty good deal for both sides.
I don’t know the player well but like the info above question for the WR gurus: are there guys on the roster who you think are ready for the next step, e.g., Cager?
Corey Davis, WR, New York Jets The deal: Three years, $37.5 million Top 100 ranking: 11 Grade: B The Jets need help at nearly every position, but wide receiver was a key target for an upgrade. Their leading receiver last season was Jamison Crowder, whose 699 yards was the second lowest for a team's leading receiver in the league. They also needed receivers who could make contested catches; their 2020 reception rate on plays where the receiver had less than three yards of separation was an NFL-low 42%, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
My favorite of the signings. If he can get his stuff together he could be good, he always has had talent
I could but I'm late for work. Does not mean they all want him for a starter. He could be a backup for a few teams.
What do you care you just want him gone. Read another post move along and comment on puppies or porn. Just whatever floats your boat other than Sam's comments.
So a team will give up a valuable resource for a backup quarterback? Not impossible but you're not getting anything or substance. The only time I can remember this happening is with Bridgewater. And I do believe that's because the Saints thought Brees was going to retire and then he didn't. And no problem - you can get back to me later with your eight teams.
Just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "if he can get his stuff together"? I know he's only been in the league 4 years and his one drop off year was due to a 20+ reception decline in his numbers. When he is above 60 receptions, he has almost 900 yards one year and almost 1,000 yards last year in only 14 games. I did not watch every game of his, but I did watch enough to love his play and his abilities.
Well like I said I like the signing for the price but since you asked, Davis is an inconsistent player. He goes through whole stretches with donuts in the box score, then he will have huge games other stretches. If he wants to be counted on by a team that can't happen, he's gotta be the same guy every week. It reminds me a little of Perriman, however his success rate is better than Perriman's too, hence the larger paycheck
Do you really think that JD would have any interest at all in JuJu? I don't. I don't think his attitude and/or character fits the mold of what JD wants on this team. I think he would be a distraction and a counter to the culture that they're trying to instill. I also think it would send the wrong message to the lockerroom. Samuels would be a fit character-wise and would be better on the field as well than JuJu.
It was said already but dont you think most of that is based on the Offense he was in that was run run heavy first and pass as the last option or on third and long with a slightly above QB who just started to play better in the last few years...Yet he still managed good stats and can block like a beast>
That totally makes sense from a financial perspective, but not necessarily from a play perspective on the field. With either Sam, Watson, or a rookie, imo we need quality, experienced OL in front of him protecting him. Two rookies or one rookie and Van Roten are nowhere near ideal. I have some hopes that Clark can win the RG spot, but they're not very big at this point, and he would be like a rookie.
Unless they don't see Mims as that good (which is possible since JD risked losing him last year by trading down), I just can't see them signing or drafting another WR to be their #1 and demoting Mims to their #3. IMO Mims has the potential to become a #1. He was open a lot last season and Sam couldn't freaking see him.
we will see .. I mean I dont see the Jets lining up with a better QB than Ryan Tannehill either anyway
