If you're talking about the type of running game that the Jets ran when Rex was coach, no, they aren't doing that. It's the Shanahan wide zone concept that grabs huge chunks of yardage by creating giant running lanes down the field. That's why every offensive player they've signed is known for blocking. (all but the guard, anyway) It's known for turning really fast nobody RBs into household names.
Yes him, but it wasn't the rotator cuff, so was less serious and will have less of an effect on his throwing and arm strength.
No one. That's the design of this offense. It doesn't count on one "bellcow" RB. It utilizes RB by committee, fast, decisive RBs who can get wide and then run north-south. Lindsey is totally unnecessary.
Both shoulders. Can't hold on with one hand. Arm strength is probably fine. But he never been hit like in the NFL. He may be great but it adds to the risk. Not our call but for sure it will be questioned if he gets hurt early. Probably by the same people who want the Jets to draft him
Yes, I know it's both shoulders, but the non-throwing shoulder is a non-issue, unless there is something chronically wrong with his shoulders or he is as fragile as Chad Pennington. His shoulder injuries and frame are definitely concerns. Hopefully, JD will get our OL fixed, and Wilson will add some bulk/strength and it won't be a big worry. He's too good to pass up on otherwise.
He's a blocking tight end but he can still catch. Watch some of his games when he was on the Bengals before he went to the Bills. I like the add.
It absolutely is a run heavy scheme, and I love that......especially with either Darnold or a rookie at QB. Same commitment to the run took a lot of heat off of Sanchez. Last time we had an excellent blocking TE was Hartsock, from same era.
The only similarities to the Ground and Pound imo is that they both run the ball a lot. Ground and Pound is more about power and inside runs, and the Outside Zone scheme is more about speed and getting outside.
If you think the Jets are sticking with Sam, you're delusional. There is no way we are not going after a QB
Don’t know much about him but do recall seeing him a few times. Seems like a very good pickup. Like the idea of short yardages TE for a QB like Fields and Wilson. If Darnold the guy, then I guess that should help him somewhat.
I’m not sure where everyone is getting that he’s a blocking TE. I guess from his receiving stats? Those aren’t really reflective of anything other than he was a backup and like the 10th target on any given play. Our blocking TE was Lee Smith, not Kroft. Kroft is an all around guy. Decent at everything, not great at anything kind of guy.
