Agree. Show the young runners and the rookie we get the ins and outs of the new offense with occasional carries of a running game by committee
Knows the system and can help the young kids pick up the scheme/play book. If he's lost his explosiveness then he'll be cut with that contract. For me im hoping it's TY Johnston that wins this RB race. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Count me in T Johnson camp also. He shown speed, vision, and good motor. He plays with passion, or probably his next contract lol. But he has the ability to catch, block, and run. I would like to see him compete for the #1 back spot
I wish I could make 2mill to be a waste on the back end of a teams RB depth. Good for him. A whatever signing. Guy doesn't impress me but like others have said... Hopefully his knowledge of this offense helps some of the guys that don't know It yet.
No bet that those RB in the 2-4 rounds will know the system as well or be successful in that system. I expect them to pick up at least 2 more RB in the draft because the system needs them to be successful. It opens up the passing game too.
Perfectly fine with this. He’s a vet presence in a locker room full of guys that have little to no experience. Also Perine just isn’t a fit for this offense so I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up getting cut end we roll with Coleman and the two young guys who fit the system.
I hate this one. Hate it. He's been the worst back in San Francisco since he got there and he's always hurt. I'm hoping there's the potential for him not to make the team and get cut in camp. Let the kids play. This has shades of giving Rex "one draft pick a year," and he took his son's quarterback and The Terminator.
this is our worst signing so far. if you want to fix your injury problem, you don't sign someone who gets injured every year. he's not even good when he plays. underachiever who is always hurt is not someone i want us signing.
Im higher on this one than others. Loved him coming out of Indiana & his time early w Atlanta. Never lived up to the contract he signed in San Fran..and hard to dispute lack of production. Still think he has some ability & w a change of scenery in a committee setting could be a very good veteran role player for the Jets
This guy will be invaluable explaining the RB playbook to our young backs. In LeFleur's offense it's really complex and a full 3 pages thick: Page 1: Run Left Page 2: Run Right Page 3: Stay in and Block.
I didn't even think about it but this also might be a pass protection signing. Young backs generally suck at those duties.
IMO it is wasting money to sign a FA RB, when rookie RBs can come in and play well from day one. It's a minor quibble however. He may be here only to help the team learn the offense and for TC, although since they guaranteed $1 million, he'll probably be with the team for this season.
