I won't bite my tongue. I can't see this being a smart move, unless Braylon was completely inflexible about wanting a long term deal. Was this a panic move by Tanny, afraid that if he chased Bray and got burned by another team, we wouldn't have a big bodied receiver?
My question is will they announce him as 'And Starting at WR, from Oneida Correctional Facility...Plaxico Burress'
When place was playing, he was certainly a better receiver than Braylon. I wanted braylon but the price is right for Plax. I'm also happy with the one year contract.
Settled for Plax because I bet Edwards wanted big money and we have to pay on arm and a leg for Cro to come back.
That's what happens when we decide we MUST have a big name corner. I was holding out hope for Braylon and Buchanon. Oh well. All I can say is it's vastly preferential to giving long-term FA money to Malcom Floyd or James Jones. We can address the position in next year's draft. OLB, WR, and Safety will be our positions of need.
Ugh made fun of a lot of Giant fans over this moron, better get ready to get it back. Really hope he's gotten his shit together, being out of the game for almost 3 years is not making me feel warm and fuzzy.
Don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere else on the board, but isn't Fitzgerald a FA next season? No long term deal for Braylon, and a 1 year deal to Plax. Any chance Tanny is eyeing Larry for 2012? **edit: just saw Poeman's post from early afternoon w/the 2012 FA list. My bad. Being a big game hunter, I'm hoping Tanny goes for it.
Plax is not so much of a step down from Braylon that it would be better to keep Braylon and lose Cro. I'd rather have Holmes, Cro, and Plax, personally. Would I have preferred Braylon? Yes. But if he wants big money, it would lead to a downgrade at CB, and a bigger downgrade than the one from Braylon to Plax.
I'm not sure why people don't understand that Edwards was asking to be paid like a number 1 receiver. We all KNEW going into this FA period that we weren't realistically going to sign Santonio, Braylon, AND Cro. We all KNEW we were realistically only going keep two of the three. And the Jets are choosing Santonio and Cro. The only argument against this move is the argument that we should have prioritized keeping Braylon instead of keeping Cro. But who here really thought Rex would sign off on that? Bottom line: As long as we resign Cro, this move makes perfect sense, both in the short term and in the long run.
Love this move... He'll still be good... Patrick Turner by the way isn't on the same planet as this guy as a player, don't be ridiculous.
