I agree with you except for DE. That is one of our strengths. Wilkerson is doing very well and even though he is a rookie, he might be one of our most solid DE line guys. Pouha is another solid, every down player. Not every nose tackle is Kris Jenkins and for what we paid Pouha, he is most definitely worth it. Mike Devito has earned his stripes, especially against the run. Then we have Dixon for 3rd and long, and Pitoutua for short yardage. And I think another guy I'm forgetting. I'm hoping that our deep rotation will be a factor late in the season when the big guys can wear down.
He means a DE/OLB that can get to the QB consistently, plus I don't even know why you're talking about Pouha when he's a NT not a DE.
Besides the fact that Brandon Moore, Ropati Pitoitua, Marcus Dixon, Jamaal Westerman, and Mike Devito are valuable contributors, yeah, you have a point. Teams develop guys that fit in their system over the years, and eventually they contribute. I think the Jets have done a good job with that. It is extremely rare that some practice squad guy comes in and dominates right away. The same is true with this guy. He was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles. They have one of the worst offensive lines in the league. This isn't Madden, where you just plug a guy in. This is about getting guys that you can develop cheaply over the long haul. -X-
He was just signed the practice squad. Looks like he won't be contributing anytime soon. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...ce-Squad/e8198656-bdee-480a-b2d1-856f9aab989e
The title, "T Howard Signed to Practice Squad" is wrong. To sign a player from another teams PS the player must be signed to the 53 man roster. Geez, the Jets Media Relation staff can't even get this right...
haha yup. here is an article that's correct lol Hopefully we will beat up on Buffalo again so that we can throw this guy out there in garbage time to see what he's got. http://www.ganggreennation.com/2011/11/25/2586170/jets-sign-ot-austin-howard-to-53-man-roster
