to be fair he was a WR in the NFL for his first 2.5 seasons and was only pushed into the RB position due to a massive amount of injuries for GB RBs during the 2017 season. they had nobody left who could play RB on the roster outside of ty. a guy in this draft that reminds me of him and could probably be had late (6th or 7th round) is tony pollard he woudl be a good guy for us to grab late in the draft
That’s GB’s fault for being slow and forced to realize due to injury what was pretty evident just by watching him play in college.
Like I said earlier, I would have preferred Spencer Ware but Montgomery is not a bad guy at all to have on your roster especially if you already have the star running back in place.
Well I guess hes coming here! 1 year deal though, if he acts up then we can cut him. I am liking the versatility this offense can have and hes not a bad backup.
This is a solid move. I like him and McGuire backing up Bell. Cannon better be ready to fight for his job.
solid move. i wonder of cannon doesn't make the final roster or winds up on the PS (if he's still eligible) i cna't see keeping 4 RBs personally
we'll find out. not sure if special teams can save him. he's a good gunner though but his hands makes him not good as a returner and also iffy at RB. it's a shame as he's good with the ball, he just sucks at keeping it secure and catching it which will be the reason his career is short
He was a solid player for Green Bay. He will only be known as the guy who fumbled and did not give Rodgers a chance to win that game last year, but he is a solid RB. A backfield of Bell/Montgomery/McGuire is awesome. The more weapons for Sam, the better.
Guy used to be a WR and turned into RB..this is really looking good! It's clear to me Gase wants to turn the team into the next " Air Coryell" like the old Chargers I foresee Sam airing it out to Backs and receivers>>>>>a High Scoring Machine hahaha
The Jets signed Le'Veon Bell early in free agency and now they’ve signed another running back to back him up during the 2019 season. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Jets have signed former Packer and Raven Ty Montgomeryto a one-year deal. Montgomery visited with the team on Thursday and was set to visit the Dolphins on Friday, but Miami will have to look elsewhere for backfield help. Montgomery opened last season with the Packers, but was traded to Baltimore in late October after fumbling on a kickoff return he took out of the end zone in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Rams. Montgomery had been told to take a knee by the coaching staff. Montgomery was a Packers third-round pick in 2015 as a wide receiver, but moved to running back the next season. He has 192 carries for 932 yards and seven touchdowns and 107 catches for 892 yards and three touchdowns over the course of his career. He joins Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon as backups to Bell.
Good pick-up He was supposed to visit Dolphins friday, but the Jets hooked him before he left the building. Mac is doing well this off season.
Good back up with above average catching skills. Will the Jets keep four RBs during the season? Are we not going to use a blocking back to help Bell?
