Same. I want to see Petty play the next game too. I think the fact that Flynn is injured and that he hasn't had any snaps in practice yet will lead to Petty playing #2 just for the Falcons game.
He's got this QB hustle thing down to a science. This dude just keeps finding ways to get paid. I can't even knock him. lol
I don't want to see Petty rushed into action so I'm happy to hear we'll sign somebody. That's really the only reason to care about this.
I would like to think this means we won't see Smith ever again. But we don't seem to have that kind of luck when it comes to Jet Qb's.
So are we going into the season with 4 QBs? Geno, Fitz, Flynn and Petty. And when Geno gets back to playing form say week 3-4 what happens then? Keeping four in the active roster will weaken another position where we probably need just as much help. My two cents
Flynn will work with the team through the preseason. He will then be cut prior to week 1. This will be done only because as a vested veteran, his full season salary becomes guaranteed if he is on a roster in Week 1. The Jets will have Bryce Petty as the backup QB against Cleveland. Flynn will then re-sign and become the backup. The Jets will carry 4 QBs until Geno returns at which time Flynn will be gone - barring injury to Fitz or Petty.
