Dude is a truck, though I doubt he plays in double digit games next season.

    Still a good signing, though.

watched the guy for a few years here in DC, he can't cover anyone, basically just a linebacker playing Safety. He jacked and can make some plays against the run but isn't going to help stop NE's TEs.

Going into this signing i think we were all well aware that Landry was not a guy who excels in coverage and this is still a place that needs addressing. However, the physicality that he brings to the middle of the field cannot be understated and i think it is that combined with the possibility of a decent coverage guy that intrigues many jets fans right now.

Prepare to be disappointed. I put odds at 100% he's on the team. And he should be on the team, especially with an injury-prone guy like Landry in front of him.

You know everyone keeps talking about how this move affects the Jets and their coverage of Gronkowski.

First off I sincerely question the mans motivation to play football. Seems like a party man. I can't wait until he comes into the season unmotivated and unprepared and he gets arrested for boning 16 year olds.

I think this means we are bringing back Leonhard and picking one up via draft. Atogwe would be okay, but Leonhard is a year and a half younger and quarterbacks the defense. The patellar tendon injury is a concern, though I assume with 6 months to rehab his quad should be back to full strength for mini-camp. Hard to assume the tendon is going to be 100% though.

    Leonhard/Tracy Wilson/DP
Landry/E. Smith as depth, where he belongs.

Landry stays healthy and either signs a new, not guaranteed against injury contract for us, or buys us time to get a long term solution back there.

Or, he gets hurt. We had to do something, best safety available at this point.

Yes and I wanted him to sign with the Patriots for many of the same reasons. I think he'll help out the Jets. It's always good to have a physical presence in the middle imo.

At this point the questions about Gronkowski have to do more with:

    1. how teams in general will cover the Gronk
    2. will he have a let down after a steller season.

I think the answer to 1 will be more bracketing, jamming at the line and the like. The Patriots do have options with that fortunately.

The second is unfortunately probably. Although if the Patriots recent WR moves pay off well enough, Gronk may still get single coverage.

    Should be interesting.

Whether or not the Jets grab Atogwe and draft a safety, Leonhard needs to come back. He's gonna QB the backfield until Landry and whomever else is bakc there pick up the system.

I'm counting on Jimmy being back there. We're gonna need the depth - Mark Barron, Atogwe, other FS/SS be damned.

    Per Cimini

LaRon Landry has pet monkey named Gucci, who has his own twitter account, per investigative reporting by @BrianCoz and @JennyVrentas. #Jets

    I love Landry already.

You hope. I think he's trying to have as much fun in the off-season as possible so that he'll be ready crunch players in the fall. God knows I'd be doing the same if I was 22 and super popular. We'll see.
