This move was a necessity though... We have (or had) zero healthy starting-quality Safeties under contract Technically Landry isn't healthy either, but I digress...
Good signing. Eric Smith is back-up SS. We should bring back Jim Leonard as FS and draft another FS in rd 2 or 3. This would give us good depth. We still don't have a pure coverage play the ball/TE FS, but good progress. Let's pray he's healthy and that they looked at the Achilles before signing him.
well, looks like eric smith will be starting games in 2012 after all. naw, just kidding. i'm excited for landry. naw, just kidding. he'll really be starting games next year. naw, just kidding. i really really really hope he stays healthy.
You have to feel better that we got atleast one safety in FA ... His recent new size is something to worry about because of roid related injuries and lack of fluid movement to play SS.... however a bruiser is nice and Rex must me happy to have im up on the LOS... I loved Landry coming out of college and if he can be the man he was we might have scored on this deal... the one thing that the Jets have is a really good medical staff..and I am sure they are going to be all over this guy to make sure he is ready for the season... I hope the Landry puts a hurting on some guys across the middle especially Welker/Woodhead...this signing had to get done and Tanny did...losing Nelson still hurts but maybe we can find a young blood in the draft for year to come... Welcome to the team Landry...hurt somebody!!! (not yourself)
No, but he sure can smash him in the fucking mouth as soon as he catches the ball. Dude is a ferocious tackling machine.
we still need another safety----------I hope we sign someone else AND bring Jimmy back for the vet min-----then I wpuld feel better---we have 3 safeties on the roster now and one is still Smith ugh
Well, at least we're not locked into a long term deal with this guy. If he plays more than 12 games I will be surprised.
Not myself.... In addition to Landry and whatever else plans we have at the position, i think Eric Smith around for DEPTH is the smartest move. IF/WHEN Landry goes down and we dont even have Eric Smith then what is the plan at that point? To play for a first overall draft pick?
I was hoping the Patriots would snag him although he's not supposed to be a great cover guy. Still you can never have too many enforcer types in the middle. Will he be able to cover Gronk? Maybe, maybe not. He should certainly be able to tackle him if he catches him though. Now will he be able to cover Welker? We'll see.
