Kerley has been very disappointing this year. Leave it to the idiotic Jets front office to give out contracts to undeserving players. This reeks similarities to the Sanchez extension after how bad he just performed the previous year.
Lol. The two just aren't comparable. We're giving Kerley less than $4 million a year. Sanchez's 3-year extension, however... http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...-mark-sanchez-deal-end-pursuit-peyton-manning
Sooooooo I've only seen the first half of the game thus far, and it seems that Harvin has only been effective in the slot and on gadget plays.
LOL The Panthers have Kelvin Benjamin locked up for less than half of what lord John Idzik decided to cough up for Jeremy "fair catch" Kerley. Plus they get the 5th year option since they took him in the 1st. http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2014/06/kelvin-benjamin-contract-rookie-panthers-nfl.html Benjamin's deal is 4 years for $7.66 M. behold the difference between drafting well and drafting "like a Jet." Anybody still think Idzik should be applauded for this move?
Better yet, the panthers have Kelvin Benjamin locked up for under 2 M per for the next 4 years, plus the 5th year option. Benjamin's contract is 4 years for 7.66 M. http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2014/06/kelvin-benjamin-contract-rookie-panthers-nfl.html How much are we paying Calvin Pryor? How much did Dmitri Patterson get for playing half a preseason game? Milliner for limping through 3 games?
The stupid prick GM passed on him and gave a ridiculous extension to a 5'10" slot receiver who fair catches punts and makes like one play per month. Or to simplify things for you: The GM sucks at drafting, has no eye for talent, and has no clue what he's doing...
Gotcha, I thought you were purely talking numbers. Yeah, I can't disagree with you there. But I do like Kerley... he's been a big help on 3rd down consistently throughout his career. With better weapons around him an (hopefully) a competent Qb in the future, he'll be a great guy to have on our team.
I meant it was comparable as to how they gave the extensions based on play that wasnt deserving for an extension. At least not mid season like this. You dont reward guys unless they have earned it. Should of waited to see how the rest of the year played out and if there was solid production, then extend. Obviously the numbers arent quite the same.
but he did earn it, he's done nothing but earn it the last few seasons, i mean thats obvious right? Jk has always been a positive for this team, and now he's locked up on a modest deal and his impact will be felt in numerous ways. locking him up now means not having to risk losing him this winter, and not having to come from a point of desperation when addressing the WR position next year as a result. it means having a capable WR on roster when we can't afford to gamble on a rookie coming in and replacing his level of production. theres better reasons to keep him and make sure he's here good and soon than to wait and see and risk losing him.
