I like the idea of 2 tight end sets.....FACT is when QB'S throw to TE , Sam led the Nfl with a Qbr of 140. That was without Herndon. That will make up for some of the shortcomings we have at WR. We definitely need to get a good WR in the draft to compliment Perriman. Definitely in round 1 or 2. I think at #11 JD will go OT if one of the top 4 make it to 11, if not then pick has to be Judy or Lamb.
Georgia kicker RODRIGO BLANKENSHIP 2019 Groza award winner (best kicker in college) https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/3915165/rodrigo-blankenship
Still only a shade under 82% accuracy, obviously better than Frikens last year though but I was expecting to see some beast stats from him.
He reminds me of the next Roberto Aguayo. The Buccaneers second round pick that was out of the league after a year. Georgia had two losses and it was really their only two really close games all year. He was 2/6 in those games. The kicks he missed against South Carolina cost them a spot on the CFP. I believe both were in overtime. I know at least one was.
I remember him, I mean really a second rounder on a kicker ffs that is such a Jets kind of thing to do, oh wait...!
200 for 200 on pat's in his career and last year 6 for 6 (20 to 30) & 10 for 11 (30 to 40) he falls off a bit in longer FG attempts, but I think he can improve on those numbers. All in all he's great inside the 40 & PAT'S & average 40-55. I want a guy thats automatic PAT's & short to mid range. I'ld like to see him improve on the long ball but I'll take him over Fickens & the scrub from Dallas that we're looking at.
College PAT statistics are pretty much useless as there is now a 13 yard distance between college PAT's and the NFL. Blankenship is a good prospect. I just don't have a good feeling about him especially considering he'll probably be overdrafted.
Why, in the whole world full of soccer players, are there not 32 guys who can learn to do the kicking job for an NFL team? I'm talking 90% or better at fifty yards as a benchmark; 99% for a point after. What is the problem, the leg or the head?
Same reason why you have amazing basketball players that suck in the clutch. James Harden is a good example. He shoots 44% from the field for his career and 36% from 3. In the final minute of the game this year he's shooting 14% from the field and 9% from 3. Kicker is a wild thing. You're completely alienated from the team in the NFL, and left to your own corner to kick and then go hit the showers. No one respects the kicker until they need them.
The same reason golfers can’t hit every fairway in a four round tournament or basketball players don’t go 99% from the free throw line. It’s mental.
One of the alternatives is watching someone meltdown over the fact that his opinion of GVR being a bad pass blocker was completely debunked with multiple stats and opinions from people that get paid to analyze the game. i’ll take some Rodrigo Blankenship discussion andy day of the week over that.
I believe so. Aguayo was a second round pick and kicked 70.5% in college. Blankenship was at 82.9% and even though his pressure numbers aren't good, he played at a big time program and was relatively consistent.
aguayo was overdrafted. I am glad he failed though. Actually if a kicker is great in college he is likely to succeed in the pros. Aguayo is the exception. A big exception That’s a good thing because now teams will not draft kickers high, citing him. Maybe our Jets can get this Blankenship kid as a UDFA or 7th rounder
That same team just wrote a huge check to a 43 yr old system qb. Hard to imagine but there are actually more clueless franchises out there than our own
