I cant believe any fan who watched a game wouldn't have realised that the OL was shit. Unless they liked seeing Sam run for life every play
There’s a steadfast rule with this guy... whatever he says, the complete opposite is true. It’s uncanny. I mean Browning Nagle does have a career completion percentage of only 48% so...
the draft is for long term building blocks I 100% agree, and none of these signings will prevent him from dratimg anyone really. It’s not a place to depend on finding day 1 starters tho. That’s my point.
Is it me or does it feel like JD has signed more OL this off-season then in the past decade. What a breath of fresh air and finally someone that realizes that OL "is" a priority.
don't know enough about the player but love the approach. versatile and smart -- as evidenced from the lack of penalties. IIRC he's from NY also gives us great flexibility come draft time. Don't need to reach. Can even trade back ALSO he has played things so tight to the vest I will be far from shocked if he drafts someone other than OL or WR as we all presume. I think he's calling his own shots and filtering out the noise If he thinks there's a LB or whatever else there that makes the most sense at 11 (or whereever) he'll pick him -- and I'll support that Feels good to have a grown up in the FO, not reacting to bad seasons, bad press, etc
JD is building this OL from top to bottom including depth pieces - last year’s back ups didn’t even belong in the NFL. These FA signings are also good depth particularly Van Roten and Fant. Sure they can start but once their replacements are drafted they provide solid depth (assuming Fant sticks around past 2020). These FA signings also will not preclude JD from hitting OL hard in the draft. An OT At #11 ( assuming no trade ) and the WRs are so plentiful he can grab 2 all the way through round 4. I also expect another interior OL rather high - either a guard or a center depending on availability and possibly another OL around round 6 for developmental purposes. Remember the OL is JD’s pride and joy.....
what about the other three things I posted from different sources? Just tap out man. You’re literally the only person that thinks he’s a bad pass protector.
It is very obvious that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Also you responded to one so you definitely read them. You meant to say you don’t read my posts that contain facts that directly contradict your opinion.
Amen. I’m all for doubling down on the OL, there is so much to improve. There’s also other positions all over the field to improve upon tho. I don’t think JD is just locking onto WR or OT as only Options for early rounds, although I’m sure he’s interested. It all depends how the draft falls. FA is to make sure we don’t head into the season with major holes, the draft is all about the future.
Correct - I’m guessing OL, WR, CB are gonna be among the early selections. He’ll probably draft a RB at some point. I’m gonna say if he signs Clowney or finds a way to bring Ngakoue aboard he probably isn’t drafting EDGE this year......
Love it!!!! And the great news continues! This is almost better than I could have hoped for. I believed he would be smart, and focus on fixing the OL, but I'm loving the players he has signed.
I still believe that taking an OL with the #11 pick is the smart move. Maybe they can re-sign Beachum at a discount and have him play RT
Not necessarily. If one of the OTs that Joe likes falls to 11, he might take him. We don't have any true "All Pros" on the OL yet.
