I can’t say one way or the other why he had a lesser year, but yes better players around you usually improve your ability.
Hewitt is not a lock for this roster. His contract is only guarantees $1 mil. This could be his replacement
could be but i think he replaces williamson so we can save that 6.5 mil and then hewitt and cashman are the backups.
You are reading too much into this ... for now. With both Mosley and Williamson having serious injuries we need this depth. Who knows if they are fully recovered or get injured again quickly like last year. Patrick on the cheap is a good asset to have as an insurance. He is not replacing a star like Williamson. Now, if Williamson is hurt again though, then things could be different.
