Yeah, maybe I'm old school, but F that outlook. Keep losing to better yourself for a draft 18 months from now. That's how you get to a Super Bowl. C'mon.
Am I wrong to think Demario coming back is also Reese-orientated? Mentor? Role model? It sure looks like he's our pick.
Aaron Wilson @AaronWilson_NFL #Jets Joseph Ossai deal: three years, $34.5M, $22.49M gtd, $9M signing bonus, salaries $3.245M (gtd), $10.245M (gtd), $11.245M, $15K annual per game active roster bonuses, $500K incentives annual. Max APY: $12M So it looks like the cap hits are around $6 mil, then $13 mil, then $3 mil. AKA, a two year deal.
Kind of. They're paying for potential. $6 mil is probably closer to market value for him this year. If he develops the way they think. $13 mil is still closer to market value for him next year although still probably an overpay. Then if that breakdown is correct we would save around $8 mil if we wanted to cut him in year 3.
There within lies the risk of paying for potential. Dunbar gives me hope that the DL is going to bat out of it's league.
I'd assume there's something to this, and we should be very happy about that. I think they are two very different players but Reese could learn a ton from Davis both on and off the field.
Depending on the compensation I wouldn’t mind trading McD he has been underperforming and underwhelming for us as high draft pick. Just too inconsistent for me
Can't see any way in which Clemens is back. And if he is he's going to get outplayed badly. We're adding actual NFL caliber, above average guys that play his position. He's rarely had to battle against that.
I think these signings all but solidifies that Reese will be the pick. I don’t think you draft Reuben Bain to spilt time with Enagbare and Ossai , or Bailey to spilt time with Will McDonald.
All the more reason I like these signings. I can't remember where I posted it but the puzzle pieces fit very well when you look at Reese plus our signings and what we're bringing back.
Completely agree. For a change, these signings seem to have a solid plan behind it that matches where this new defense is hopefully going. It plays right into Reese and one more LB in the draft to develop. Clemens is history and even Sherwood might be subject to trade. All the pieces we have selected fit one fundamental premise, unsung hero’s good against the run, with rush potential coming from everywhere in the 3-4 D. Mooge IMO is properly taking advantage of strengthening areas of need, where the talent in free agency is deep without braking the bank. So far I love it. Conversely, offensively the market is thin in areas of need and the price and competition steep. OL worries me the most, non withstanding our need for a plug in QB.
I thought Ossai was really good last year. He was all over the field on a bad Bengals defense any time I saw him.
