I think his best fit is in the cover 2 honestly because he's relatively big and physical and likes to hit. Keep him up around the line and not covering deep. I also think that'd make him a good candidate to play free safety one day but who knows. I'm good with rolling with the kids at corner this year and seeing what we have. I think they'll sign a veteran at some point before the off-season ends, but nothing major. Sherman would still be a good fit for a buy-in guy. I imagine he wants one more two year deal though.
No I just think it narrows there needs in the Draft to CB & OL & LB, & sprinkle in another EDGE RUSHER. I think he might have high hopes for Hall & our #23 pick. If all our DL plays up to potential we won't need any CB'S, just get after the QB .... LAWSON...QUINNEN. ..SHELDON. ..JFM. WOW THAT WILL MAKE FOR A GREAT RUN/PASS RUSH DEFENCE. The old saying, a good pass rush makes average CB'S good, & good CB'S great.
I don't think we need another DE this year. Next year there will be 2-3 blue chip DEs in the draft and the Jets have 2-1st round picks. That is the time to add another DE. We have plenty of other needs this year in the first 4 rounds: OG, CB, LB, & RB. I add RT to that because this is such a good draft for OTs, and we could draft our future RT who could replace Fant in 2022 or 2023. This year that RT could possibly start at RG or replace Edoga, and if Becton gets injured again, Fant can move to LT and that player take over RT.
He’s definitely the weakest link in the secondary. If Lawson and Williams are as advertised it should help a lot. All things equal I’d rather look for interior o line with the higher picks
I get why we signed him. But the two year deal is odd IMO for a guy who’s hurt often. But hope he has a breakout year and okays injured free.
I’m loving the depth on the DL. I still see a high pick at Edge as well. If you want a genuinely dominant DL, you need good rotational players as well.
Good old Rich, always looking at the upside of the pick. I’m quite certain JD went into this with his eyes wide open, knowing the risks. In a rotation environment in which he will be placed is a risk worth taking. At 30% to 40% of the snaps he could be a great play specific starter keeping him in top form.
Without knowing all the details of the contract it’s hard to question. 2nd year could be a dummy year to spread out cap hit.
