Yes there's a surprise, you making another daft post. It's like you are getting paid by negative IQ points.

Verner is Ronde Barber 0.8, he's an off corner that loves playing zone.

Skrine is a physical corner with short legs and arms who is almost a prototype slot corner. Everything this FO is doing right now is everything Rex Ryan wanted to do but couldn't. Skrine is a guy that can press players like Edelman (and soon to be Harvin in NE) to break up those short routes that they spend all day wrecking defenses with. This is why they drafted Kyle Wilson although he just could not play up to expectations.

Slot corner is a huge position in this division and in this conference.

In today's NFL, slot corner is a starter

I don't agree based on the fact that Bowles D is so aggressive at the point. Any weakness at CB will affect the entire D.

i hear ya, still just cuz you NEED somethings doesnt mean to just throw cash at players like that...you could draft nickel corners and save 5 million in cap

In most scenarios I would agree. However, the Jets are in a unique situation here. They HAVE TO spend money and with a first year coach with a certain philosophy, I think it was wise to shore up that defensive backfield. Remember, Skrine was signed before Revis.

Drafting anyone is a risk. The team can't count on rookies at vital positions.

For what it's worth my drunk uncles are Browns season ticket holders and they really liked Skrine and we're pissed to see him go. Called him a "battler"

Sounds like a Ray Mickens type to me....

I had a buddy tell me the same thing, said he is relentless and balls out on every play that's why he gets burned sometimes. I still like the idea of moving him to FS. Fast enough to cover ground, hits hard and a ball hawk...perfect

He'll be taking over for Kyle Wilson. I don't think he'll be playing the safety position

Funny how everyone from Cleveland or at least Browns fans are all saying the same thing about Skrine but the 3 or 4 people here that "have watched him play a lot" are calling him
    Wilson 2.0...

That's because you only read what you want to read. I've already tried to have the reading comprehension talk with you after the Marshall trade, no desire to do that again.

I think between Milliner and McDougal one of them can handle the nickel. Either way it's one hell of a backfield. I love that Milliner and McDougal can learn under possibly the GOAT

It's a possibility. I'm not gonna rule it out. I just think we signed Skrine to play that nickel. Milliner might not be ready for camp and McDougle hasn't played a snap yet. I think as of right now, Skrine is at nickel, and Cromartie, who we are trying to sign, and Revis would be on the outside.

Look for Gilchrist to sign today. Him and Pryor could possibly move around up top

a little short/small though for free safety right? plus that's not an easy transition by any means. I like the idea of Revis and Cromartie on the outside and a battler like him covering the slot more.

what role did the honey badger play in AZ under Bowles? Did he blitz? I think that's what they envision Skrine, a nickel corner to cover the slot and blitz from time to time. A roamer
