forget about what cleveland fans think dude..those idiots got excited about brandon weedon..if they ever signed a player like revis they would be parting like they won a Super Bowl
we pounced on him pretty quick because revis wasn't a free agent..and if the pats re-signed him…this signed would look bad but since revis and cro are back…this isn't being talked about
You forgot the most important rate Buster Shrine turning head around rate was 0.2% Kyle Wilson turning head around rate was 0.0%
Stats aren't as important when judging cover corners. It's not like QB or WR where the numbers are -- in general -- indicative of how good players are relative to each other. Revis had 2 INTs last year. That doesn't mean he's just slightly better than Kyle Wilson. Skrine is much better than Kyle Wilson. Kyle Wilson never made any plays. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/medi...r-Skrine/7dc8d97e-5951-4d91-9e05-2487ef366ed1
Skrine had reportedly 8 teams interested in him and signed the first day free agency opened. Wilson has no known team interested in him. So I fail to see your comparison.
Maybe Kyle would interest Rex who kept him on the team and found a role for him. Funny that all of these players who supposedly loved Rex so much are re-signing here.
Excellent point. Just a few months ago, all the Rex fans were claiming that the Jets wouldn't be able to re-sign any of their own FAs because they'd all be flocking to wherever Rex was. Has even one Jet signed with Buffalo?
Buffalo actually has to show interest in signing our JAGs 1st, to give them a decision to make, before we claim they chose staying here over Buffalo
The reports were that Rex was interested in David Harris and Bilal Powell. He also wanted to bring in Revis. Thud.
I agree volume stats are not super telling. But when you combine the stats with what we already know about Kyle Wilson, it becomes pretty clear. The knock on Skrine was that he gets penalized too much, when in reality he gets penalized less than Wilson does. Wilson couldnt even get many snaps last year, on the most depleted secondary in football.
Harris and Powell were wisely locked up b4 they could hit FA, so they weren't an option for Buff. Revis i don't think they could make work with their cap. would've been very difficult for them to match a 16M per offer. i could see Buff making offers to Landry and Douzable in future (although i'd prefer to bring Douz back here)..
biggest difference between Wilson and Skrine is awareness. the stats back it up, but you don't even really need them. Skrine has a nose for the ball, is capable of breaking up plays, as well as making big plays. Wilson was a fluid coverage man, but never had any instincts on if/when the ball was coming. barely any pass breakups, let alone INT's..
When you can be in on an average 50 defensive playts a game it has to mean something if nothing more than you are in phenomenal shape.
Almost nobody got excited about Brandon Weeden. Maybe 10% of Browns fans fooled themselves into thinking Weeden would be anything, and that's being generous.
You guys got really pissed at Vinny when he took Kosar's job. Thanks again for running him out of town to the Meadowlands.
