Idzik is an idiot. We don't need 4 freaking QB's on the roster. If Quinn isn't cut by Saturday he's guaranteed $715,000. We should have gone into Sunday's game against the Bucs with Smith, Simms and Kerley. Kerley has actually thrown an NFL pass and an NFL TD. That's more than Smith or Simms combined and he knows the offense. We did not need Quinn. Start throwing the rookies into the game until one can stand up and not fall down IMO. Stop being a pussy with the QB situation.
Agreed, what has Idzik the idiot done for us since coming here. Sign shitty QBs and questionable RBs. No one ever said he was a football guy. The Seattle success last year gave him an inflated stock for something he didn't even do. The main reason he is here is because he agreed on keeping Rex around.
I'm willing to give Idzik the benefit of the doubt until Saturday. It's clearly asinine to go into the season with 4 qb's, but if they are planning on IR'ing Sanchez or otherwise getting rid of him before Saturday, this move isn't retarded. Given Geno is coming off an ankle injury and he's a rookie, its understandable to carry 3 qb's on the roster with Quinn as 3rd QB.
Anyone know how badly McElroy was / is hurt ? I would rather still have him on the roster than Quinn. This signing,,,is quite a head scratcher,,,we have 4 qb s and if what someone posted is true will owe Quinn 700 k if he stays with us past Saturday.
No he hasn't, at least not according to pro football reference. The Jets are carrying 4 QBs because 1 is injured and clearly it's more serious than we know, Sanchez 1 is not 100% healthy and is coming off an ankle injury, Geno 2 have 0 NFL snaps between them, Geno and Simms Really the Jets are trying to carry 3 healthy QBs into the year, which makes sense.
why do the jets have to go out and get two of the college qbs i hated the most out of anyone i can remember? tim tebow last year was bad enough, now we got brady quinn? jeezzzz man, how many of these assholes am i gonna have to turn around and root for? and holy shit its storming hard on long island right now
This sucks, Mark had a chance for a fresh start and b/c we enter him in the 4th qtr of a meaningless preseason game we now don't have him, have to rush a clearly not ready Geno and now our primary backup w/ be Rick Mirer, I mean Brady Quinn.
I am not convinced that Sanchez was going to be the starter this season. His injury just makes it easier to mask the true intentions of the coaching staff and front office.
I believe had Geno not gotten hurt week 1 of preseason he would have started, after that injury he really took a step back and mark was going to start until he got hurt.
Finally, someone has some sense. This is not a sky is falling issue. Sanchez is hurt badly, who the fuck knows what Geno will do, and if you think you can rely on Sims to win games now, you are fucking nuts. As of today, Brady Quinn is probably the most game ready qb on the roster. That's not saying he's good. It just speaks to the clusterfuck that is the Jets QB situation.
How long do you think it takes to learn a completely new system? Can he have it down by Sunday just in case he has to come in for whatever reason?
Lol. Actually, I'm surprised that they signed Quinn over Vince Young. He is a winning NFL QB and has a good arm and nice mobility still.
Was Bill Bellichick this heavily scrutinized when he got Gronk injured on special teams in garbage time? I doubt it.
to be fair BB has 3 SB titles and 5 AFC titles. That will help w/ media relations. When Rex was winning here all his goofy antics were celebrated, now that they aren't winning he's bashed.
If I'm not mistaken all he had was a bad game and not that he took a step back. I also believe he had two days of practice leading up to that game where he only had one incomplete pass in the entire two days..in fact everybody gushed about what an awesome week he had. Now all anybody (not anybody) cares to remember is that bad preseason game. We will know in a few weeks after the rookie nerves are gone exactly what we have with him.
