Every piece of you know what that hits the market ... Can someone explain why a team would want to use up so many roster spots on bad QBs? 2 or 3 bad QBs is enough suck for any team.
I don't think it means Sanchez will go to IR but it is possible. I think the Jets are holding out hope they can trade Sanchez before the deadline if a team loses a QB. It means they are looking for a back-up to play of anything happens to Geno. Simms is not ready and they must not think to highly of Harrel from the little they have seen. But they do need a back-up for Geno. If they are committing to Geno for the year I doubt they will want Sanchez on the roster. If they cannot trade him at some point they will likely cut him but only after they fully committed to Geno. The question is when do the Jets commit fully to Geno? Is it now? If we get off to a bad start? Or if he does well to adequate in the first few starts? Once the Jets are fully committed to Geno it makes little sense to keep Sanchez on the roster. To bad about McElroy getting hurt he could have been our number 2 this year rather than Quinn or whoever else we pick up.
That's what would happen. Simms would be the backup to Geno at this point. Sanchez clearly is worse than expected if we are keeping 4 QB's on the roster. This is just an extreme insurance policy. If Geno and Simms were to get hurt you still want to try and have the best depth you can possibly have just in case the unforeseen does happen. There is nothing wrong with the move. It's not important because it's likely never going to go that far.
that would be ideal. i don't hate sanchez. not in the least. but it's time for everyone to move-on. had sanchez really been great in camp, maybe...just maybe...he could have pulled it out. but after being healthy and his usual-crap self, i think the coaching staff just gave up. stick sanchez on the i-r...let him get ready for his next opportunity. move on with the guys who might possibly be around for a few years.
the story here is that most teams now a days keep 2 quarterbacks, they only keep a third if they feel he is a prospect and can be groomed into a functional qb. the jets now have 4 qbs on their roster. i agree simms is worth keeping as a 3rd for right now and would get scooped up in a second if he were put on waivers. so ok i get that part. this tells me that sancho will be sidelined for some time and they dont feel that simms can be a backup right at this moment. they also dont feel super comfortable in smith, either in him being durable or playing well. brady quinn is a safety blanket. but him coming in tells me quite a few things.
What does it tell you aside from: 1) Sanchez is injured and may be more injured than we thought 2) The organization is worried about Geno getting injured and/or Simms getting injured
because the options are limited and quinn has actually taken an nfl snap before unlike any other healthy qb on our roster. simms isnt a backup. he is a clipboard holding emergency qb. all playing on sunday would do would turn him into a shell shocked pin cushion
Kerley has taken an NFL snap and was successful when he took one. Plenty of guys have taken NFL Snaps. Quinn has proven he can take an NFL snap. Not a good reason to sign him. As far as Simms he has shown better mechanics than Quinn every has.
no team is trading for Sanchez no matter how bad their QB situation is, and if anyone on the Jets thinks it is even remotely possible they deserve to be out of a job. I am always shocked any time a fan thinks that another team would ever trade for a QB who has been as historically bad as Sanchez.
everyone is getting uptight because we swapped Harrell for Quinn. even if its an upgrade it doesn't matter, neither one should ever see the field
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Jets' "internal fear" upon Mark Sanchez's (shoulder) injury was that he'd be lost for more than Week 1. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5192 ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes Sanchez's injury is "(clearly) worse than team is letting on." The Jets brought in their latest scrub backup Monday, signing Brady Quinn. Cimini "wouldn't be shocked" if Sanchez was IRed or released at some point during the regular season. All signs suggest Geno Smith is in for more than a one-week cameo under center. Sep 2 - 1:21 PM
Like I said on the first page, only this fan base can turn a swapping of fourth string quarterbacks into a big deal.
FINALLY QUINN IS A JET. I fist pumped over the news. Perfect mentor for Geno. Great kid, has a great looking/athletic girlfriend, and is Anti-Tebow. :drunk:
The good looking girlfriend part makes me feel better about this signing. Thanks for shining a ray of light on this black hole. Sent from my HTC6990LVW using Tapatalk
I think Sanchez goes on the PUP List, maybe to bring back Lasanah or add another WR. All we got at WR is Holmes, Hill, Gates, Kerley and Spadola....we need another WR especially if Holmes isn't 100%. By the time Sanchez is back, either Quinn or Simms will be gone. EDIT: Or did the PUP list come and go?
