I am still very wary of this. It seems unnecessary to me when the goal is to win games, not appear on a reality TV show.
Of course it's unnecessary. It's like a big Jets commercial. And part of me is against it, while another part of me is a psychotic obsessive Jets fan and will enjoy every moment of it, and overanalyze every moment of it as well. It's a chance to get a look at our team from angles that have never been available. That's too good to pass up.
I'm with you on this for the same reason. Also, I thought the whole idea of moving TC from our state-of-the-art training facility in Florham Park up to Jerkwater, USA was to avoid distractions. That's how that decision was justified. Now the players can concentrate on looking good in front of the cameras instead of practicing. WTF... makes no sense to me. Stupid move if you ask me.
distractions as in their everyday lives that they would have to deal with if they were having training camp at home. the media is always around these guys so i don't think the cameras are gonna be that big of a deal. sure having the camera's in meeting rooms might be weird at first but after a meeting or two things should get back to business as usual. IMO the show has the ability to just as much good as harm. some guys might be distracted and have their performance suffer but you will probably have other guys who have improved performance. for the young guys battling it out in camp it gives them even more incentive to work their asses off. nobody wants to be the guy getting cut because he doesn't know the playbook or can't catch a pass.
Its interesting how the old and new Jets fans have nearly completely different views on the jets being on this show.
