Fucking A, beat those Dolphins to knock them out of an early tee time. We'll be able to ram that down Fins fans throats for eternity- live with THAT shame HAHAHAHAHAAAA. _
To answer your question, yes it is a lot to ask for! Those QBs are generational talents - The Rodgers, the Bradys, the Mannings. Brees ain't clutch outside the dome, but a great talent no doubt. Flacco / Matt Ryan / Eli - those guys don't put up video game stats but they were 1st round QBs. Cook will be in that category when he comes to the NFL - that I truly believe. I will easily take an above average QB that performs well in the regular season, but takes it to another gear in the playoffs. All I care about is the Jets winning a SB, passing records, TD records mean nothing to me.
Yeah, I'm not hoping for Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson. Passing and TDs records actually mean something. That you have a QB capabale of putting a team on his back and carrying him. The Baltimore Ravens happen less often than Peyton and Brees and Brady and Rogers the Mannings. _
500 touchdowns don't mean shit to me. 300 might though heh. Peyton only has 1 ring because of that inept Colts front office. Same thing is happening to Luck now. We've seen some awful Jet QBs, to have one with a good TD:INT ratio (in meaningful playing time) ... that would make me the happiest fan on Earth. We have to find that guy that week in and week out, we feel good going into battle with him. Only felt that way with Pennington.
Whut? Peyton's been to 3 SBs and he's challenging every year. I can't tell you how many times he's had the first or second seed. Give me a QB that throws 500 TDs any day. _
Wow so you DON'T want the next sure thing Peyton Manning. I'll take first round losses and second round losses and champ round losses and SB losses. You know why? Because that means every year we're IN it. Wow. _
I see these teams with 'franchize QBs' gutting their teams (Pats, Seahawks, Ravens, etc) to come up with $20-$30M/yr for one player. If that one player gets the rings, fine I guess. But I've grown used to paying attention to several players on our team (Richardson, Mo, Revis, Cro) and will be a bit sad when our team is 99% scrubs so we can pay our franchise QB. Teams like the Pats have players come and go every season just to fill the roster so Tom Brady can set NFL records. I get that. Having a QB that can set NFL records and get to the POs every year would be SWEET, but only having one player to focus on would be kind of boring. I wish we could have the best of both worlds. A franchise QB AND money to draft/keep/sign really good, fun to watch players.
i thought about posting a poll asking would you rather have a mediocre QB and a great supporting cast or an above average QB and not great supporting cast. i decided against it because jets fans are anal about the quarterback position
I don't know. I have a feeling about this guy. That he isn't going to be a chump. Could be at this time next year he is our starting Qb.
Last year he beat out Taj Boyd. If someone else wins the starting job over Geno it would be interesting to see if Simms can beat Geno out for a roster spot.
Big arm, big body, great leadership abilities and while he comes from a spread offense, he has functional athleticism but is not a runner. All depends on how well he picks up an NFL offense and his ability to read defenses and make adjustments. High upside. _
