Do you have any idea how good Maynard was? He's an NFL All Time Great. He played in the two greatest games in NHL history. I'm a big Chrebet guy but Maynard is on a different planet as him as a player.

two greatest games in NHL history?

He was a back up receiver/kickoff returner in the 58 Championship Game and didn't make a catch in Super Bowl III. Bad examples to show how good he was in my opinion.

He was great! So great he was almost as good as Toon and Sauer.

I'll be sure to ask my dad about him. Doesn't really matter though, Chrebet I saw make Jet history with my own eyes. Chrebet did a lot more with a lot less I'm willing to guess.

WELL, CONSIDERING THAT MOUNT RUSHMORE FEATURES TWO PRESIDENTS FROM THE 18TH CENTURY, ONE FROM THE 19TH AND ONE FROM THE EARLY 20TH, AND NONE FROM THE LAST 100 YEARS (NEARLY HALF THE COUNTRY'S HISTORY), IT'S NOT REALLY REPRESENTATIVE.

If you were following that formula and just honoring the greatest of those that established our "greatness", you're looking at
    NAMATH
    MAYNARD
    GRANTHAM
    PHILBIN

If you're were to select across the decades, it's
    MAYNARD (60s)
    NAMATH (70s)
    KLECKO (80s)
    CHREBET (90s)

You'd have to put PENNINGTON in there for the (00s), three playoffs, two playoff wins and a division championship in 6 years.

Namath, Martin and Maynard should be locks on everyone's top 4. They are HOFs, no debate there. Klecko should be #4 as per he is HOF worthy and gets snubbed every year.

I know everyone loves Chrebet but he is massively overrated by Jets fans.

No, but I had you in mind when I posted that.

Four guys in Jets history? For me it would have to be:

    Namath
    Maynard
    Weeb
    Klecko

The three who are in the Hall of Fame and the one who should be. Also, following the Mt Rushmore model of being early in our history, as GSour, Jr pointed out. You could make a case for Curtis Martin, but he was a Patriot first and played his only Super Bowl for them.

To paraphrase the guy in Jaws...

We're going to need a bigger mountain.

I can agree with this. It is a shame that Klecko does not get the respect he deserves. Unfortunately injury prevented Al Toon from being on this list.

You're missing one, though. You need four. Let's make the fourth championjets69. Tour guides can give out hand-held digital devices for tourists for a couple of bucks that keeps track of a spectacular moment in real time. 'It's been 40 years, 36 days, 11 hrs, and 33 seconds since...

Yeah, Toon and Mark Gastineau are two of the great players in our history who were derailed for different reasons. Gastineau actually had a nice 10-year career, he was just unpopular and not a great guy, so people choose to forget him. On the field he was as good a player as I've ever seen in the green & white.

He was great. For a time that whole defensive line was great to watch.

Cherbet wasn't even one of our top four receivers let alone on of the top four Jets of all time.

Namath, Maynard, and Klecko are the only guys with retired Jerseys. Those guys should all be there. Martin has a strong case for the fourth spot but so do a dozen other guys not named Cherbet.
