You're right, we still have a lot to see. Right now, he's the answer. A lot can change in the next 7 games, but right now, I find it hard to believe we should be picking a RB with our first pick next year.
After today, I'm not sure the case has been made that we don't draft a blue chip RB if the opportunity presents itself. 6 games and counting.
I dont know what we need...maybe Leon can be our guy...I was so sure that we needed DL in the first round but after the last 2 weeks I am not su sure.....secondary is never a bad choice, and we need a OLB.....i do think our draft needs to focus on D though, with offensieve addidtions coming thru free agency.
After watching the USC/Cal game.... I'm totally sold on Marshawn Lynch. He is one tough SOB. Great moves, can catch , block , in fact I didn't see any downside. Whether he declares or not and is still available. Prolly mid 2nd to mid 3rd rounder.? Maybe not that low Just found these stats... Lynch's Career Rushing Stats, through 11/4/06 Year G-GS No. Yds. The guy I really like is Michael Bush. He's huge and very fast for his size.He broke his leg and that hurt his draft status very badly.I belive he will be a late 1st early 2nd round pick and I would love to see us trade up with those two 2nd round picks to get him.Having a combo of Bush and Leon would be deadly. It could be one of the best in the NFL.
Hmmm. Finally a replacement for the big back we've never really had since John Riggins. Wasn't there another guy? Used to wear 34 but never got to play for Herm? Oh well, water under the bridge. What's the numbers on this guy? How fast? How big? etc....
6'4" I believe. Think Brandon Jacobs with a little more speed and wiggle. Also probably good at the halfback pass...
Not sure but some other posters have expressed concern over his ability to get low to break tackles and deflect the blows. Not too many tall RBs succeed over the long haul so who knows. 2nd round I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him but not worth the chance in the first.
What is the general opinion on Ian Johnson? I haven't seen BSU play all year, but the cat is putting up numbers! Attempts: 222 Yards: 1466 Yards per Carry: 6.6 Touchdowns: 21 Fumbles: 0 Only downside appears to be that he isn't catching a lot of passes. Boise State has toned down the passing game a considerable amount because of Johnson's emergence, but he only has 6 catches on the year.
Bush is listed at 6'3 250 on ESPN and I saw his 40 time last year clocked at a 4.47 which is really fast for a guy his size.I belive he can be a really good Rb for us especially if we have him and Leon to mix it up and throw off defenses.I would love to draft him in the 2nd round.
Bush or Lynch are guys I would like, with Leon they would be complemented nicely, I think we should go big back in the 2nd round after a LB in the first. It is nice having that extra pick to trade up if need be or hope someone falls to us. A LB/RB/DT combo in the first two rounds would be nice. BPA available after that
............................. From the Louisville site., http://uoflsports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/bush_michael00.html
Michael Bush is an absolute beast. He's got great size, strength, and is pretty fast too. My Louisville friend always tells me how good he is and when I have seen him play, he looks good. And he can play QB, too. Perfect for Schotty with his trick plays (Bush and Smith). We still got a long way to go, so we'll see if we need a RB in the first couple of rounds or no.
I would love to see Leonard as a Jet in the 2nd round. I saw a comparison to Mike Alstott, and yes he is Mike Alstott in terms of running ability. But, he's also a very good and consistent pass catcher as well as an amazing lead blocker that gets very little credit for it. He's a complete fullback in every aspect of the game, and could be used as an h-back, 3rd down back, and hell - a tailback as well. Very hard working, talented player that will make a team very very happy in the future.
Awesome acceleration {one step and he's in 5th Gear} and speed, Cman He's not draft eligible this year, but next year he's a TOP 5 lock .. in the hunt for #1 Overall
I think there's only three 1st RD RB's in this class, assuming Bush declares Adrian Peterson Marshawn Lynch Michael Bush Irons is too small ... right now the folks who have him tabbed in RD 1 are over-valuing Irons IMO ... he's like 200 Pounds ... that won't get him a ticket in RD 1, not unless he's Reggie Bush or Steve Slaton, that type of phenominal talent, and he's not Reggie or Slaton JMO I think the Jets will have a crack at Brian Leonard in RD 2, especially with that Redskins 2nd Rounder we own That may be the only question for the Jets if they love Leonard .. take him with the EARLY 2 or risk waiting for that LATER 2?
