At this point it really doesn't matter how he earned it, but when the chips are down, and we are still undefeated at the buy or playing really well, he is not going anywhere.
Many people miss the point of your posts because you lack the ability to write a clearly comprehensible paragraph. Pretty sad you are searching my posts looking for something to insult me about, stick with the 3rd grade type taunts, they are more reflective of your intelligence level.
You're emberssing yourself and once again hijacking the thread with "3rd grade type arguments." You obviously have a very miserable time in your mothers basement. If you have nothing to post about the actual subject you should just move along and stop trolling.
Going back to the tired, basement line, again, if you want to insult someone then have some commitment. Put some time into what you want to say, try and make it at least a little humorous and not some damn tired line that stopped being funny 15 years ago. I'm embarrassed for you, that you think what you write is in any way insulting to me just shows you have the intellect of a mole.
I am saying two things: 1) What was quoted on twitter was actually said by Bowles. You said "what was actually said vs. twitter". What was on twitter was actually said. I'm guessing your intent was to show there was more said than what was said on twitter but it came off, at least to me, as if what was on twitter wasn't actually said. 2) Geno was cleared by the doctors to practice & play, so why wouldn't he be ready to be backup QB? Obviously Bowles is not sure who his #2 QB is at the moment even though both Smith and Petty are healthy and ready to play. Probably because despite the fact that though he knows Geno is more ready to play than a 4th round rookie, he also knows that Geno is a massive dipshit.
This Jets team is way better than the Jets teams that Geno has started for the past two years. I do not think that is a fair comparison at all...
All indications are that the vast majority of Jet fans, the CS, presumably the FO, and i have to think the players themselves are in agreement that Smith should not be put back in there. Yet we have the die hard Smith Fans posting incessantly here and on the other Smith and Qb threads that he should. They're entitled to their opinion, but they just keep saying the same things over and over. That are not persuasive. I just make this observation because it is worth considering as a counter to what would be my usual take seeign stupid arguments presented, taht being to post here and try to counter them. Among other things this is a problem since they are impervious to reasoned arguments. They have a different agenda. They are Smith Fans, not Jet fans. Now I am sure there are some who would feel they are exceptions to what I have described, like 1985. But he's just being a contrarian on this, and wants to give Smith more chances more than he wants to see the Jets keep up their current winning ways. But most Smith Fans care more about Smith than the Jets. So why argue with them? They have a different objective than the rest of us. Take this ridiculous argument that Smith deserves a chance to show what he can do with the current players, players who are "better" than those Smith played with last two years. Two obvious problems there. One is ANY Qb will do better, so what? with better players around them. It means nothing. BUt the second problem is that those who know the game and saw Smith play the last two seasons know that most of his problems were of his own making, unforced errors that no amount of talent around him would have led to a different result. I'm going to try and focus more on other things.
This is funny part about people supporting geno, this goes beyond the fact he was punch and has shown questionable judgement on and off the field. People who want to see on the field have this belief he will suddenly become better because of the dolphin game last yr and preseason They tend to forget all the bad mistakes he made 1 perfect game qb rating does not erase the perfectly bad qb rating against the bills and the other bad ones through out the yr. The only time he appears to play well is when there is no pressure on him. I don't have that faith. I wanted the kid to succeed, but to me after 30 games of watching the same mistakes again and again it is enough At best to me he is a career back up. whether poor coaching killed his chances or him to me it is enough to cut bait, teams do it all the time with number 1 picks in the nfl never mind second round picks. To say you can not compare Jermarcus Russell to this kid is not acceptable because they were both QBS and how long did it take the raiders to cut bait. Whether he was deserving of being picked that high is not the point the point is a high qb picked had less of a chance then Geno did and people still want to give Geno chances at the cost of the team. I just want to win period and oay with the best players that give us that chance and everything Geno has shown is that he is not that best chance
He had 2 bad games last year the first Bills game and the Chargers game. The problem with Smith is that he makes a few boneheaded mistakes in every game. Inconsistent with his decision making and was erratic with his fundamentals at times. He shouldn't have even seen the field until the middle of last year. He came in as a raw rookie that should've been given the Petty treatment but was forced to play right away because of circumstances. He needed to work on his fundamentals, and spend time watching film and spending time on the sidelines just watching the game. I'm not saying he's destined to be good, but it's as silly to say he has NO chance to improve simply based on two years where he was raw and needed time to develop. He did show improvement from year 1, albeit he was still inconsistent. I'm not writing him off yet.
As much as I'd like to see Petty play, I really don't want him playing any games that matter. If we're blowing someone out or getting blown out I'd be happy if he could get in for a few 4th quarter series to get the feel of live games. Of course if we're out of it by week 14 or 15, I absolutley wanting him to start the last game or 2. He will have grown up enough by then. _
If Geno does get a chance to start again, then you're going to see a more humbled and motivated Geno. I'm sure Geno is hearing all the noises and is motivated to prove everybody wrong. He's also humbled because he lost his starting job and may not even get it back. Before, he never had to worry about losing his starting job because we never truly had someone viable behind him (Vick was never really a threat). I think he will use all of the negative press against him as motivation and will play his best ball. He was throwing to bums last year. This year with our skilled players and oline being improved, he should show a bump in quality of play.
“I don’t listen to the outside noise. I don’t think it’s important at all. I don’t think it motivates me."
Pretty big problem to be honest. You got fans in Indy jumping off the bandwagon because of Luck and his boneheaded mistakes.
But with time and experience those mistakes can be corrected/limited. We're talking about a guy that didn't even know how to drop back or consistently take snaps from under center.
Geno being completely unaware that he was about to be hit by a linebacker... or a corner or safety or lineman? not really that hard to imagine.
Doesn't always end up working out this way unfortunately, sometimes the light never comes on for players. Do we really have to sacrifice another season to find out?
