Ryan Fitzpatrick is in his 11th season. His record is well below .500. I'd say Fitzpatrick has failed more times than Geno. Geno has played literally 2 years. It's practical to think that a guy entering his 3rd year would make better decisions with the football.
Tim Tebow has a record above .500 as a starting QB in the NFL. Is he a better QB than Ryan Fitzpatrick? Meanwhile, we're 2-0 with Fitzpatrick as a starter, so somehow his prior below .500 record hasn't dragged us down thus far. Maybe because record is a team statistic and he has a strong team around him?
The thought that failures in 11 seasons compared to 2 seasons would even be close should tell you all you need to know about Geno. There is a reason why Fitz has had an 11 year career and Geno wont. And its not just talent. Geno has more pure talent than Fitz no doubt. But he lacks commitment , leadership and overall smarts at the position. And nothing that we saw last season or early in training camp should give us any reason for optimism that Geno would all of the sudden discover something that wasnt there before.
It is logical that Geno would play better this season than in the last two. It's not clear that he would bring to the table the attributes needed to guide this roster to wins at this point. Until the circumstances change that's going to be an unknown because nobody is going to break up a winning thing for an unknown unless they have little choice in the matter. When the Giants benched Kurt Warner for Eli Manning they were 5-4. They were playoff bound at that point with just acceptable play from thereon out. Two teams made the playoffs at 8-8 that year in the NFC. However Warner had a nagging injury that was cutting into his effectiveness and Eli was the #1 overall pick and clearly the future of the franchise so the Giants put him out there. They went 1-6 the rest of the way and missed the playoffs by a mile in a year where you only had to win half your games to get in. Geno is not the future of the franchise at this point. He's one possible future among many and there's just no reason to shake things up unless reality bites enough to make a shakeup a positive thing. If Fitzpatrick fails to play well or gets hurt the Jets will likely make a change to Geno for this year. They're unlikely to just stick Bryce Petty in because there's no point in potentially ruining a future asset when you have a pre-ruined asset waiting around for one more shot.
as satoshi said thats a team statistic but even if I used your flawed system of measurement Geno Smith is well below .500 as a starter as well. I think their win percentages are almost identical. also- - its NOT practical to think that Geno Smith would start making better decisions just because its his 3rd year. That's called hope. Its actually more practical to believe a person who makes the same mistakes over and over will continue to make those mistakes. some players make a jump from year 2 to year 3, sure, but a hell of a lot more don't. for every drew brees, rich gannon, etc. that struggled early and then improved there are WAY more examples of guys that sucked early and then always sucked my avatar being one of them
How often does Fitz actually finish a season? There is a pretty good chance Geno will get his opportunity. Lets revisit this once he does. Short of a complete implosion, Fitz isnt losing this job.
Sorry but fans do it for free, he is getting paid hundreds of thousands to play football not yell. The fact you are trying to build him up on his cheering prowess is telling.
I wasn't waiting for the Geno backers to claim he was yelling the loudest as if it was an accomplishment but they did.
I find it funny that whenever someone wants to talk up Geno they bring up the Miami game from last year as if that is the only frame of reference available. I don't think many people think Fitz is the savior of the team but in 2 years Geno did not do what Fitz has done in 2 games. At that time where his INTs are more than his TDs it will be a point of discussion but right now he sits at 4 TDs and 2 INTs with the team at 2-0, his game has flaws but not near as many as we saw Geno has. If Geno gets another chance he can attempt to show he has more upside than Fitz but Fitz seems to have been put in a good situation here and may not let loose of the reins.
I think you have the math wrong there. You don't add those grades--you multiply them. I've taken the liberty of changing your letter grades to numbers and adjusted them based upon what we've seen. So Geno is 4 x 3 x 0 x 4 = 0 Fitz is 3 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 24 Fitz > Geno _
He owed a 250 pound linebacker money and said "What are you going to do about it?". His decision making is an F, on the field and off. Never mind the time zones thing last year...
Even if that were true you completely missed the point which is usual for you. This isn't the Walking Dead thread your stupidity sticks out far more here.

Honest question--do you think that the entire locker room was empty besides Geno, IK and Marshall? Just the three of them? No one else? And that someone made up all the scuttlebutt? _
