Yep. Geno used his legs to get him out of trouble, not his brain to recognize the trouble and make calls to deal with it. He simply was not assimilating the job requirements at the pace that future successful QB would. And the fact is, he did not get himself out of trouble most of the time, so his performance was poor.

Geno can't read defenses it's as simple as that, his arm strength is useless if you can't read what the defense is coming at you with. I like hot Fitz is managing the game and aslong as he stays within his limitations he should be fine.....limit turnovers and let the defense do it's thing and the JETS will be just fine then next year it will be Petty time!

Slightly off topic. Espn showed the jets sideline at one point last night. Seeing Petty going over plays with Fitz made me smile.

Right, Petty...you will never see smith do that or even look at film when he is starting.

That's because he is most likely at the movies wearing a broken watch.

I'm nothing that resembles a Geno Smith fan but id agree that it isn't close to over...Watch how fast everyone turns on Fitzpatrick when he has a 2 or 3 int game ......I hope for his sake it doesn't happen because I know this fanbase all to well ......

Are we not all in agreement that the current situation with the Jets record and more particularly with QB selection is very simple?
1- As long as Fitz keeps on winning, flashy or not, coulda, shoulda scored more points or not, long rocket arm or not, it would be asinine to disrup a great team chemistry and a winning streak by making a change. It would be counter productive to the team and to Geno in particular.
2- That instead of already pissing and moaning about Chan Gaileys lack of running attack yesterday with an injured Ivory we should be counting our blessings that he is our OC.
3- That the bizarro logic that every game we win is because the opposition is nothing but a bunch of scrubs is total nonsensical BS
4- That some Jet fans will always look at the dark side no matter what the record is and find ways to accentuate the negative to prove a point about their favorite or least favorite player
5- That non withstanding some injuries we are in a very good position to compete and with Fitz pulling some wins it gives Geno and Petty an opportunity to get up to speed, really learn the system and become better.
6- That this team has not quite even jelled yet, it is not at maximum strength personnel wise, yet we look better than we have in a long long time.
7- That it is time to enjoy the moment and the ride, because talk is cheap, games are won on the field, and for once we have a football minded organization from top to bottom. Yep....I'm happy because the circus has left town. Winning is everything, and at least for now we are farther along that we ever dreamed at the beginning of the season.

Re-watch the game. There were too many times that Fitz threw into double and triple coverage. He won't continue to get away with that. What is most concerning about that is he was making these throws with very little pressure on him.

I am glad we are 2-0.I hope that Geno doesn't see the field because that would mean that Fitz is getting the job done. A part of me is very skeptical that will be the case though.

They're stacking the box and challenging Fitz to beat them. It's tough to get the run going with 8 or 9 dudes in the box. If Fitz keeps tossing to a 65% completion % and several TD's a game it will open up the running game. Decker and Marshall will go a long way towards making this happen.

He's a rookie QB. The odds are the Jets go 1-2, maybe 1-3 in his first few starts. I just don't see room for that this year even if he's going to be good at some point. Almost everybody struggles when they hit the field at QB for the first time.

If Petty was the franchise QB then maybe you make that sacrifice and give him the field the way the Giants did with Eli Manning his rookie season. The Jets are better off with Fitzpatrick or Geno on the field this season.

Can you picture the fan reaction if the Jets chose to put Petty on the field in the middle of a decent run for the team and then he blew chunks for a few games in a row? You'd have mid-air collisions over the field as the banner towers fought for air space.

Reports were that Geno was easily beating out Fitz in the preseason. I trust Bowles and his staff--it looks as though they have made the right calls in other areas. And they owed nothing to Geno.

Now they don't want to rock the boat, but the best QB talent wise is probably sitting on the bench.

And the Jets won't let Geno take film to watch at home, he already owes 600 dollars in late fees that he refuses to pay.

    Geno > Fitz

    Geno:
    Armstrength: A
    Deep Throw Accuracy: B
    Decision Making: D
    Age: 24

    Fitz:
    Armstrength: B
    Deep Throw Accuracy: C-
    Decision Making: C+
    Age: 32

Geno is younger and still has time to improve his decision making. Fitzpatrick literally lobbed up those deep passes for the taking. If he keeps doing that he will have more INTs than TDs, Geno is at least accurate and knows where his ball is going even if he decides to throw into coverage.

He's unproven, but he simply has a better arm. Look at his deep ball in that miami game last year....he was SPOT on. It's his 3rd year. and he was showing promise in training camp. considering that Geno wouldn't be that much of a downgrade in the worst scenario, he has too much more upside than Fitzpatrick.

As long as the Jets are winning, I'd stick with Fitz. Geno has a higher ceiling, but I also think his floor is lower.
If Geno gets a D grade for decision making, who would you consider an F rated player in that category? Just curious.
