So far the new regime has fielded the best players, no matter past performance or draft status. I expect the same moving forward. Geno will get another shot at some point, he'd better be ready with his best game.

During the Thursday night game Tirico said about RG3 that the offense he ran (as a running Qb) lasted about one year and is presently out of date. And that Griffin has not been able to adapt to a standard offense (he's been inactive in all of their games so far). I thought against us and (I didn't see the game) last week Johnny M showed a lot of talent. He seems to be picking up the offense better than he did last year and probably off the field is more under control. They say he is now spending his time learning his position and not going out and partying every night. The thing is: can you survive in the NFL as a running Qb when guys are trying to take you out the minute you step on the field. The running element adds a lot to the game and allows you to extend plays. But the injury part of it is substantial.
I think the thing is with Manziel is that he's not really a running QB but a QB who can take massive advantage of scrambling and waiting for plays to develop or to just take off when it's open field in front of him When he was a freshman winning the Heisman he ran a lot of designed runs. His soph year he was one of the highest rated college QBs from the pocket and typically ran only when plays broke down. I think if he continues to stay at home as a pocket passer and only taking off when necessary he'll prolong his career. But even still, he's a pretty small guy so he has to learn to avoid hits. _
