I hope I'm wrong but signing both McCown and Bridgewater I'll bet means there will be no rookie QB drafted in the first round and we better get used to the idea of either Chubb or Minkah being a Jet. Not that they won't be great players but I'm afraid we're not going to be adding much offense with our draft picks. And to me that means same old Jets for another year+ I thought this was the offseason to finally break that pattern.
I don’t see the big issue here? I thought pretty much everyone agreed that if Cousins signed elsewhere, Plan B should be McCown and a 1st rd QB. What’s the issue?
Fitzpatrick destroyed this team...the following off-season after that disaster half the team got cut.
Teddy Bridgewater is also supposed to be signing, where does that leave a rookie QB selected in the first 6 ? So it ain't gonna happen, you could guess they will take another punt on a project QB in the later rounds like Falk
I think it was McCown or Bridgewater, I doubt Bridgewater signing now. If he does? Then I’d probably question whether or not they’d still select a QB at 6, definitely wouldn’t rule it out completely though.
If we sign Bridgewater, we should still take a QB at 6 or even trade up for one. The more we invest, the better chance we have of getting a good one.
Oh I agree completely, would love to bring in Bridgewater as well if I thought the Jets would still make getting one of the top 4 a priority. My thought is that Mac would still take a QB if one he liked was there but he wouldn’t aggressively pursue one like I do think he will with just a McCown.
Im sure this has been posted already but Ive been at work all day, I have no problem with the Mccown signing but how on earth do we give him the starting job in MARCH? This seems so inconceivable. We are signing Bridgewater and you already guaruntee McCown is starting. We might draft a QB at 6 but you already know McCown is the starter? Am I missing something ? It seems totally insane.
Yeah, that's an odd one. I still don't know where exactly that came from, but would like to know. Or least see a further explanation if it is indeed authentic even.
It's not real clear but a lot of what I've seen is that McCown will be the starter in training camp. The problem is that I'm not sure that Bowles understands the distinction.
McCown should be the starter at the start of camp. Bridgewater is coming off a major injury and a rookie is a rookie. But both guys should have a fair chance to beat McCown by Week 1.
I hope you are correct! And you probably are, Its just alarming, especially knowing this coaching staff.
Are there any solid sources reporting the guaranteed starter stuff? Could just be Manish-level clickbait.
Jets got a coach and a player by bringing back Josh McCown. He helped play a significant role in uniting the team last season. He impacts our growing young team in more ways than show up in a stat sheet. We need him while we are still laying a foundation.
Were we bidding against others for a 39yr old journeyman QB?? 10 million for a tutor/player coach.....what is in the Kool Aid over there??
