Excellent, more drama. Clear to see they want to win with a Trent Dilfer style rather than developing Sanchez to win with a combination pass and run.
I'm picturing Rex and company just sitting around laughing about all this while trying to figure out other ways to fark with the heads of other coaches. Seriously, how much time do you think other team's coaches are spending on guessing what the Jet's are going to try with Tebow and then also figuring out how to defend against what they came up with.
i wouldnt go calling it drama yet, we havent even seen how they are gonna run this new "wild cat" offense. For all you know it could be Tebow in as a decoy and Sanchez running it in himself...or maybe Tebow is the new Brad Smith...i bet you liked when it was Brad Smith running the wild cat. The only difference between now and then is the media hype of tebow mania...i would wait a little longer before i go calling anything drama.
Most of it comes off as them just trying to justify the paycheck their employer gives them at the end of the week.
Maybe when we get inside the 5, Tebow will come into the game and then bust out his super awesome "jump pass"!!!
I thought it was obvious since day one that one of his roles would be to play some in the red zone and possibly short yardage situations where keeping the defense thinking for an extra second could mean key points. Tebow is tough to bring down. Putting him in under center makes sense. He can run with 10 blockers in front of him, or pass like a QB. If Sanchez is playing very well, Tebow will play less. Conversely, if Tebow plays well in his chances, he will play more. Ironically, the Jets were very good in the red zone last year. But Plaxico is gone, he was a big part of it. He was also part of why we didn't do well between the 20s and had so few chunk plays, but that is a different argument. Tebow just provides options. I'm very curious how they will use him. So many ways this trade could work, he can help in red zone or special teams or possibly even be a decent qb. And if it doesn't work, it was a 4th round pick.
I think a good part of having Tebow in will be to screw with the D's heads. If it's 3rd and 5 and you have Sanchez and Tebow in the backfield, does the D play more towards the run or the pass? I'm betting the snap could go to either one of them, causing further concern for opposing D's.
