You got excited w/ choking away a playoff spot? I was much more excited in '02 or '04 when we made the div rd.

So b/c YOU THOUGHT we had a shot it made the season a success rather than when we actually had shots w/ Chad b/c YOU didn't think we had a shot? Makes sense.

Favre did what he could (great out of the gate craps out on the long stretch) I doubt Jets will win 9 games this year even with El'Dirty, To much change in the off season. Besides Ryan/Flacco are the exceptions not the norm (see Andre ware, David Klingler, Tim Couch, Heath Shuler,Akilli Smith, and oh yes (personal fave) Ryan Leaf.)

Be glad you had him when you did it could be (or get) worst.

If we didn't get Favre, and Pennington were the starter he likely would have sucked horse cock against the Ravens like he always does against good defenses in big games.

He wasn't great out of the gate, he had a nice stretch during the Buf-Ten games but other than that he wasn't good for us. The only way the Favre trdae will have been worth it is if Sanchez develops. if not '08 was a complete waste.

he had much better talent around him in NY, he would have been fine against Baltimore had he stayed. He actually had WRs to throw to here.

I really don't give a damn what he does anymore. But one little note about a comeback: he had a torn biceps, and I remember reading after our season was over that he would need surgery soon (within a couple of weeks) on that to be ready for camp this year, if he were still planning to be the Jets QB. That was January, still no surgery. Either it will heal on its own, and I'm no orthopedist, or he's made no plans to come back.

There is zero evidence to believe he "would have been fine" against Baltimore in the playoffs. History suggests he would have sucked, so I'm going with that.

Anyway, if Sanchez works out it will all be worth it regardless of why it happened.

What history? B/c he sucked(as did his teammates) against Oak in 2002? he would have had a much better chance w/ our talent and our home crowd than he did in Miami.

People have short memories, he ruined our season. Good riddance.

I'm not discussing this again, junc.....forget it. There's the truth....then there's your warped opinion. It's not worth it.

    In addition to 2002:
2004 he sucked against pitt and was carried by a top notch defense and special teams. He also had a very good o-line and running game that year.

    2006 he sucked against NE.

    2008 he sucked against Balt.

Pennington has always sucked against top teams in the playoffs. He's a choker.

Favre didn't ruin the season by himself. While he sucked down the stretch so did the entire team. How quickly YOU forget how terrible our defense was during that stretch too.

Favre was horrible, the INT machine will thankfully never put on a Jets jersey. I hated the move from Day 1 so the fact that he's officially off the books makes me happy.

Last year was probably the least exciting year since 05.

Really? Say what you want about Favre and our collapse and our coaching, etc. but it was a hell of a ride. We beat NE in NE under the bright lights then DEMOLISHED Tennessee's perfect season. The end sucked but it was still a great fuckin ride

2004 he was playing w/ a ton rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder and if our K makes one of two MAKEABLE FGs we go to the title game.

He didn't suck in '06 against NE, that was a close game until a fluky barely backward pass changed the game.

How quickly you forget our O's inability to score and amazing ability to turn it over hurt our D. No D could have success w/ what favre was doing w/ that O.

Those 2 weeks were very exciting, the rest of the year was pretty boring.

We were getting ripped apart on opening drives and even in games where he played well (particularly New England and Arizona) our defense was getting torn apart. Didn't help that QB was turning the ball over at an alarming rate but our defense was putrid last year

    Denver game:
Jets get ball first, 3 and out.
    Den scores TD
Jets get ball back and turns it over for Den TD

    SF Game:
Jets get ball first, 3 and out.
    D forces SF fumble
O gets another shot, 3 and out

    Buf game:
O scores TD on 1st 2 possessions, we wind up winning.

    Seattle game:
Jets get ball first, kick FG
D holds Sea scoreless on Sea's first 4 possessions including forcing 2 TOs.
    O never scores again

    Mia game:
    Jets get ball first, punt.
    D holds Miami
    2nd possession favre INT
    D holds again

The only game our D allowed points on the opening drive was Denver. Our O killed our D w/ not scoring and turnovers. if not for the D scoring a TD against Buf we woulld have lost our last 5.

havn't seen a Pennington vs Sanchez thread yet! Quick somone start one.

Let see, some ifon I dug up.

    Pennington:
    Smarts: 3.8 GPA 1280SAT
Injuries: We all know old noodle arm's problems with his shoulder
Draft: Top QB in 2000 Draft, Jets 3rd pick, 17th
    Social: Stable, married college sweethart
Established NCAA season record for most TD passes (24) from one passer to single receiver (Randy Moss)
Completed 292 of 433 passes (67.4 percent) for 4,006 yards and 38 TD as a senior

    Sanchez:
    Smarts: 3.7 GPA 1180SAT
Injuries: Recovered from knee injury in 2008
Draft: 2nd place even at 5th isn't as good as 1st
Social: Playboy/Ladies man? Only 7th hottest college QB girlfriend (Stafford = hotter) He will certainly trade up in NYC.
Completed 241 of 366 passes (65.9 percent) for 3207 yards and 34 TD as a junior (maybe as a sr he could have surpassed pennington?)
