It drives me nuts that they kept Bawden and we barely use him. The 3rd down shotgun inside handoffs to pick up 1 yard are insane. Line up with a fullback and punch the other team in the face. Teams get way to fancy sometimes.
we don't have the o-line to do that. bawden makes no sense on this roster. but the CS loves him for some reason.
JD may have gone a bit overboard with releasing Carter, he could have probably waited until year end and try to trade him, but maybe he already did before the deadline and there were no takers. Be that as it may, I do see some logic here. Carrying 4 RBs on 53 man roster is too much. 3 max, the rest are PS guys in case of multiple injuries. Of course he could have thought about this before the season, but that ship has sailed. Either way, Carter played like a scrub for two years now, and no big loss. And I am saying this as you know not being the biggest fan of JD's offense building skills. At this point JD can't really do much. Cutting Zach would be a dumb move and so is getting rid of Hack, who while sucks is AR's best friend, and we need AR. All the changes from here on out aside some minor scrub PS guys signings/cutting are on coaching. We will see on Sunday if Saleh will make moves that can help the team. Good news is that Carter won't play. Let's see what he does with Uzomah and Lazard and maybe Carter Warren or some other moves can improve the line. But the roster is pretty much set at this point, the cavalry is not coming. JD stayed put at the deadline and what you see is what you get. Up to the coaches and players now.
Just shows how dysfunctional and ridiculous the Jets are that there's been this much media attention and talk over the release of a guy who was a fourth round pick 2 years ago and has a whopping 38 yards rushing this season through nine games. That illegal chop block penalty he got against Vegas is 39.4% of his total rushing yards for the year, a mere fraction of a percentage point below being worth 40% of his rushing output for this season through nine games.
saleh already explained it. they said they did what was best for carter. to give him a chance to play somewhere else instead of riding the bench. It also frees up a roster spot for us and about .5mil this season and 1 mil next season. it's really a win for everyone by releasing him. he was picked up quickly and will likely be the RB2 or 3rd down back behind connor who can't stay healthy. wouldn't surprise me if he gets a start there sometime this season. that RB room is banged up and lacks talent behind connor. also he did say this week ruckert would see more snaps (so that likely answers the question about uzo) nothing has been said of lazard so he likely keeps his role, but i'd like to see taylor get some of his snaps.
“I think there is a lot that went on behind the scenes that led me to not be surprised,” Carter said Thursday about the move. “It’s just a blessing to be here and I love my teammates back in New York. Those are my brothers and they know that, so what is understood doesn’t need to be explained and they got my number. “Those are my guys, I love them.” When he was asked if he had asked the Jets front office to release him Carter replied: “I’d rather not answer that question.”
doubtful. not carters MO. even asked about his release he said "i'd prefer not to answer that" he's only spoke positive of the jets
I really enjoyed watching Cook whiff on 3rd down blocks. If nothing else that would have been worth keeping him over Cook. You are not putting Breece out there for that and tough task to ask a rookie to do.
So if he declined to answer something on the record then that means he wouldn't speak off the record? If your logic was a solid thing, it would have been pulverized into a fine mist by now.
if he wanted to answer it he simply could have. you are implying he's too shady to put his name on a comment. thats pretty shitty logic and honestly shitty to talk about someone who was so beloved in the locker room who was nothing but a great teammate here. If it was a known shittier player (like a TO type) then yeah I'd get that. that's not MCs MO at all.
It’s been nice seeing Izzy on the field , atleast gives reason to letting a locker room favorite go. Oh wait
Feels almost like a shell game scenario. They made MC as the sacrificial lamb, then told the rubes they were activating Izzy. Now the excuse is Izzy doesn't know how to run block or pick up blitzes so he doesn't play. Then to pretend they give a shit about the run game, Saleh criticizes Breece publicly but not the playcaller who is planning these obvious runs that everyone is expecting.. Amazing..
Saleh is full of shit, just like JD. But the truth is, we don't have the line for any RB to succeed and play calling is awful. Izzy, Cook, who actually seems to run relatively well now under the circumstances, even Breece. No one can excel with this line and OC.
