    his dad is a Jets fan. the reason McElroy always wore 12 growing up was because his dads favorite player was Joe Namath.

    So yeah he probably knows more Jets history than 90% of our team. Probably more than 65-70% of our fanbase...

    It was part of a story after he got drafted. About how his dad didnt care where his son got drafted, but he secretly hoped the Jets would take him because he was a Jets fan.
