I posted him earlier... 6ft 5 can go over the middle, or on the outside and just outjump people, and should be available in the 3rd round... Maurice Stovall WR, Notre Dame. If Weiss likes him, I'm sure Tangini will.

If we draft Stovall do you think Regis will become a Jets fan. We might have to take Quinn next year to push him over the edge.

They "dominated" per say because the big receivers were either hurt or suspended... (R. Moss / Owens) now I'm not undervalueing the guys who had great years, but every team NEEDS a big receiver for situations in a game that arize. The Fade pattern, close to the goal line, need a big target possession receiver for that first down to keep a drive going. A big reciever with hands is a commodity in this league, and if anyone needs one, it's the Jets.

Personally, I think Hank Baskett (New Mexico) would be a much better option for us.

He's 6ft 3 225, has great hands, can move pretty well for a big man (4.49 40 time), and we can prob land him late in round 3. IMO this guy could eventually become a number 1 target.

Nothing against Stovall. He would definately be a good red zone target. I am a bit concerned about his 4.6 40 time. I just don't see him becoming anything special on the WR level. Maybe as a TE. He just needs to put on a bit more size to make that transition.

I think that the Jets should find a speed guy like Aromashadu from Auburn in the 3rd or 4th round this year and then in 2007 spend a 1 or 2 on a top WR.

If Calvin Johnson comes out, he'd obviously be the target but I don't know if the Jets will be in a position to get him.

winstonbiggs, how's it going? You did not like McCareins in 2004? Granted, he did not put up gaudy stats in a conservative offense, but he was a very good player for us. You have to consider the circumstances also, missing Chad for 3 games and he wasn't the same after the injury. And consider the offense where Curtis ran for 1697 and Jordan had close to 500 yards rushing. They weren't necessarily a pass-oriented team. He came up big in some games including the wild card game. I remember watching games with him making some great grabs and stretching for 1st downs. He is a #2 receiver though, I don't expect more from him. I definitely don't put him in the same company as the guys you mentioned, but in 2004 he was a good receiver for us. My whole point was in my opinion the Jets should worry about blocking and tackling first and WR should be a very low priority.

Don't forget Chrebet in the list of great Jets WRs.

Stovall defintly should be the Jets 4th round pick if he is there. I don't think he'll be taken in the 3rd though by Mangini. I see alot of Joe in Stovall. Makes great catches, runs great routes is physical and a blocker.

And Coles is faster then alot of you guys think and slower then he used to be since the TurfToe. BUt when you ave QB's with weak arms throwing to you, it doesn't even matter. Coles played with Pennington, then an old hurt Brunell then a whole season with Bollinger????? That's like an 500 man paddle line.

McCareins should be cut next year really.

ur kidding right avant is short and slow ill pass. as far as stovall's 40 time i wouldnt worrry about that if you ever watched you knew he wasnt a true burner. but show me cb that has out jumped him or out fought him for ball the list is short. he remined me of a cris carter last year not fast but the can make plays and big ones. now if he was playing like this his 1st 3 seasons he would have been a 1st rd pick. but the only thing ty will wanted him do was run deep and chuck it up to him which dont work when 3 guys covering you because they know everytime you in the game the gonna throw a deep ball to you.[IMG]

Cherbet was not a great WR he was a good tough wr. McCariens in 04 was actually poor for half the season and did come up big in a few spots. If you really think about 04 while McCariens was solid down the stretch, the difference maker in SD was Moss and it was Moss in Pittsburgh who put us in a position to win.

Yes, speed, that's all well and good, but if we draft another dwarf a la Santana Ward I'll scream. Er, Dedric Moss? Whatever. Hehehe.

Coles could do better but only if we have a game changing player, if we have a player with the ability to outjump any other DB it will make others in the team shine, I like Stovall, a player with that size should be able to draw a lot of attention in the end zone and that will make the QB better with more choices available, I mean you can throw a jump ball at him or maybe because Stovall could be double teamed you can go one on one on others, or maybe even someone wide open
