Just saw a list of possible Jets coaches. Eric from KC, Greg Roman of the Ravens, Jason Garrett, Brian Dabol, Caldwell. Caldwell is too old. Either Roman or Beinimy would be solid choices.

Nobody on the Jets current staff should get a interview. They are part of this mess.its time to cut bait and get the stink off this team.

I don't like any of the names I hear thrown around (pro coordinators). If we went the college route, Harbaugh would be my first choice. But I love Mike Leach ... he's Rex Ryan with a desire to score points. I bet Urban Meyer would consider the job.

I’m very interested in Greg Roman.
Loads of creativity went into Baltimore’s offense.
He’s not afreaid to use more than 1 TE, that’s for sure (suck it Gase)

They didn’t overlap at Baltimore at same time, but I’m sure Joe knows all the right people in that organization to vet him as a candidate.

I wonder if the presumed need to hire an offensive coach the last time played a part in Gase coming here? (He certainly has been offensive.) Did the Johnsons focus too much on making that change like, I think, most guys here did?

I really don't care what the head coach's specialty is. I want a guy who can get great people to work for him and he can get the best out of them. I want a guy next time around who knows everything about his players and what each guy needs to have the best brought out each week. A guy who can look in a player's eyes and knows what that guy needs to hear.

I agree.....He is my pick, but you can't contact him without permission from the Ravens or after the season. Which means not until late January, early February.

We need a HC that doesn't bring his coloring book to the games to pass the time while the defense is on the field. Gase is in way over his head being a HC even if he was a "offensive guru he doesn't have what it takes to coordinate the whole team.

Big time. I think a LARGE part of the Gase hire was the outside pressure to hire someone with an "offensive mind".

I also think that's where we made a huge mistake. You can't go into hiring someone with the mindset that they are either offensive or defensive. A choice has to be made on their previous body of work as a coach and their ability to win games and battle adversity.

We have to go into this with an open mind. Ignore the idea that we hired "another defensive coach". Hell, our most recent success was with a defensive coach.

  13. Id be real careful w this.It SHOULDN’T matter which side a HC comes from but in the Jets case a long line of defensive HC that only cared about winning w defense & drafting defense is a massive part of why this team’s offense is quite possibly the worst ever personnel wise. Someone has gotta come in here & get this offensive disaster fixed to give us an identity. Offense CANNOT go back to being an afterthought.Do you trust the Johnsons to vent that issue in the hiring process? Cause i sure as hell don’t.

More importantly Jets need an aggressive HC & avoid getting someone conservative yet again.Every HC the Johnsons have hired regardless of specialty has been conservative. We need scoring minded, aggressive footbll to get out of this loser ball mentality.

I didn't say going after a defensive coach is what we should be doing. What I was getting at was that the pressure to hire someone offensive is what led to the Gase hire. Granted, I'm sure there could have been a thousand other choices that were offensive and better options than Gase, but my point was that it should be more about a coach's body of work and leadership ability rather than just what side of the ball they came from.

Guys like Andy Reid came from the offensive side of the ball, but he was an offensive line coach and a QB coach before taking the Philly job.

We can not afford to hire a coach who ignores the offense, but we should also be able to hire a coach that has the ability to coach the entire team, not just one side, either way

To be fair he had a chance to pick his QB so he wasn’t coming here anyway

I think I said pretty much the same thing when the Jets hired Gase and everyone was clamouring for offense. I wanted the right guy, one who had a vision for the team as a whole and would put the right people in charge to achieve that. I didn't care what their speciality was. I still feel the same.

    <ring> Hello?

Ah, ah, um, yes, this is Chris Johnson, kinda sorta owner of the Jets. You wanna coach my team?

NY Jets? Interesting. But isn't that the team with fans who demand the coach get fired b/c the GM drafted zero talent?

Agree but there is one. Brant Boyer. Was a hold over from Bowles. Special teams always plays well. Made a mistake in never giving Westoff a chance. Correct it. As interim see what Boyer can do. If it's nothing we tried. Greg Williams been there done that. Don't need to see him as an interim head coach again.

Letting JD pick the next HC will go a long way to changing the Org. Chart for the better. CJ should just go on a vacation to Mars and leave his rubber stamp on the desk for JD to use.
