The Jets need to get a head start on a Head Coaching search because they know most qualified people will turn down the job. They need to start a few months early so they can find someone to say Yes by January. It won't be easy!
Outside of the Johnsons giving full power to JD, the coach doesn’t want to deal with mingling owners.... we want to hire someone JD worked with before... and get Johnson’s to stay out the pot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You have to pray JD talks some sense into the Baby Powder Heads Gut sez its happening with Douglas promising to have CJ coming out of this stinker smelling like a rose heh
Lol. Good call. I actually just thought of it from this perspective. "New York Jets are so bad they need to start interviewing candidates in September to assure they aren't coach-less come next season."
They're going to get a tampering charge *and* the Jets are going to beat the Broncos Thursday night ruining their opportunity for a clean firing.
Is there anyone on the Ravens staff worth considering to be a HC? I'd cast a wide net and not limit my options to organizations I was a part of if I was Douglas.
We would be the dumbasses to do that with all these picks we have they could take away huh lol Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
This just in: Jets call Andy Reid's cell phone about coaching vacancy after witnessing underhand touchdown pass to fullback. Jets forfeit #1 overall pick as a penalty for tampering.
I can't imagine that any of those coaches would have any interest in coming to the Jets in the middle of the season. They may not have any interest at all anyway, but it's too late to make major changes in systems, and I sure wouldn't be interested in having them be the HC beyond this year, and I don't think they'd be able to do much. But should one of them turn things around a little, C. Johnson would be likely to extend him, and then we'd be stuck with a mediocre HC. No thanks! Promote Williams or Boyer to HC to get us through the rest of the season, and let's hire someone younger, energetic, and creative. Cooter needs to be the OC so he can coach Sam up during the game while the D is on the field. If he's the HC, he has to pay attention to what the D is doing and the game, and wouldn't be able to help Sam that much.
Not if it completely ruins Sam or the other rookies or sours them on playing for the Jets. It would be great to get the #1 pick, but it would come at a cost. Douglas might be stuck with all that cap space and not be able to use it, because no on might want to save here except older players on the downside of their careers who want big deals, and that would just be continuing the insanity of Mac. It could also make Lawrence say that he refuses to play for the Jets.
I don't think that changing the offense will happen at all even with a Gase firing. I think it would be too difficult and the offense would be lost for a month or two anyway while they're trying to learn the new offense. It would be just as bad as if Gase was still here. The only reasonable thing is tweaking the offense that Gase installed. There have to be bootlegs, rollouts, and long passes in the offense. We've seen them before. They'd just use the plays that play to Sam's strengths, let him be free to create, and I certainly hope that Cooter or if someone is promoted to QB Coach would work with Sam and coach him up during the game on the sidelines.
Losing to Denver will not be easy. Without Denver having a QB I am not sure how we can don't win. With Becton likely coming back, possibly Crowder, Gase having less time to screw up the game plan, players playing hard to impress the new coach along with Denvers QB situation and there is a real possibility we blow Denve out. So close to Gase being gone but so far.
Watch the Jets get the number one pick and lose it for tampering. Then Trevor Lawrence goes to the Giants and has a Hall of Fame career there.
Seriously though have you ever heard of a team trying to make contact with candidates in Week 4 of the regular season? We are redefining stupidity here at the Jets. The best thing that could happen is this franchise ceasing operations and just dissolving.
If Gase gets fired on Friday, what's the over/under on hours until everybody gets an email from the marketing department talking about future plans for season ticket holders? I'm going about 50, put it right around NFL time on Sunday afternoon.
