The only surprise about the coaching was that Bowles got an extension on his contract. He really did a shitty job for us.
A lot of us thought it was stupid when it happened. I'll never forget that stink puss face as the game got away from him. He was paralyzed by his own ineptitude. .375% ....Bruce Coslet had a better record
Harsh to tag him with this, his squad was stripped bare for two seasons of rebuilding in all fairness, he was shit but nobody would have done any better and if they had we now wouldn't have Darnald or Adams for that matter. Thanks Todd
Coming off a year in which the D-line did not perform so well, this signing doesn't excite me very much. Remember, McLendon was signed as a replacement for Snacks Harrison who the Jet FO, in their infinite wisdom, allowed to walk. So between McLendon and Harrison, I'll take Harrison anytime.
Not for nothing, and I'm not putting all my belief in PFF, but Mclendon was the second highest rated defensive player on our roster behind only Jamal Adams. He finished with a 78.5 rating. He rated higher than Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson. If you are expecting a player like Snacks, you're not gonna get that, but Mclendon was a very good signing and I'm glad we resigned him
But the defense as a whole was ranked about 24th last year as opposed to being a top 10 in recent years past, so his individual ranking doesn't say much to me. I don't mind the signing, I'm just not excited about it.
Championship!, haha. Me likey the second part. He was verbally tearing apart the D for being slackers last season. Agree that he's a good Dad to have around in there. It wasn't tough love, he was calling them out for being lazy assholes. "I'll clean up my room in a minute, Mom!" Three days later clothes still all over the floor. McClendon don't play that game.
Which could be argued was the cause of Mclendon not having a great year. The defense ranked 24th last year had more to do with guys like Leonard Williams and Trumaine Johnson playing horribly throughout the year. I'm not disagreeing with you that Snacks was the much better option, but signing Mclendon this year is a smart move on the field and in the locker room. Sometimes having a veteran presence like his can do wonders for younger guys like Adams and a soon to be rookie pass rusher
Its a good move but I'm surprised McClendon re-upped. the young guys on that defense were driving him crazy last year
Adams has already stepped up as a leader of this team, veteran presence overrated IMO. If the Jets signed Ndamukong Suh, then I could get excited.
So you believe veteran presence is overrated and instead want to sign a guy who has been fined over half a million dollars throughout his career including suspensions? All for disciplinary reasons
How many veteran free agents have the Jets signed in the past and how many winning seasons has that produced much less championships? I would rather have a guy who plays aggressively and gets fined, than a guy who wipes his butt with the football and gets fined.
I am not sure about that... I read that this guy believed he could coach anyone. Think about that. The article I read weeks ago - somewhere- stated that when the FO came to him asking about players he wanted he never responded with any firm statements. If true that just tells you how delusional he was. ..................….
