I'm sure Tanny gave him a horrible contract that will put the Jets in cap hell.

Final contract numbers for #Jets Santonio Holmes were 5 years at just under $10M per year. Again, the guarantees were $24M. #njy

On March 3, 2007, the Texans signed Andre Johnson to a six year extension; the deal is worth $60 million and includes $15 million in guarantees

Johnson received a two-year extension worth $38.5 million, including $13 million guaranteed, according to the Houston Chronicle. Adding to Johnson's old deal which still had five years and $35 million remaining, his deal is now worth seven years and $73.5 million—an average of $10.5million a year

I think Holmes realized if he plays anywhere but the Jets he will have to eventually face Revis/Aso if he wants another ring. Same for all the WRs; I surprised they don't all want to play for us. And I bet every reciever in the league has to think, do I really want to play in the AFC east and have to face those beasts multiple times a year?!?

Seriously though. Happy this got done.

I think Braylon still has a real shot at staying a Jet. He knows Cleveland didn't work for him, will he really want to go to some other market? He seems to truly love Holmes and Nacho. The fans love him. The guy is a Jet and he knows it.

Through him a fair offer Tanny, 5 years, 30M, $14M Guaranteed. I bet he takes it. He might get a little more somewhere else, but he will cut the jets a deal to stay.

2007 is ancient history in NFL terms. It's not fair to compare those deals.

The only way I see Braylon staying is if agent tells him he can make more money in endorsements playing in New York.

I honestly think of Braylon as someone who relishes being the man. That's why I think of him going to Washington would be a better deal for him. Playing in D.C. would still give him the high profile he loves.

    Let's put it in perspective:

The Dolphins signed Marshall for 5 years, $50 million. I would rather have Holmes. At least for this team.

He loves being a Jet, though.

I started a "Don't sign Holmes" thread a few months ago, and I got flamed for saying he's going to command 10 million per season. Well here we are. This better be a crafty contract with some kind of $17 million dollar salary in the last year or something.

Holmes is good, but he's not Larry Fitzgerald.

I'm glad we locked up one of our big three free agents, but I really think if it's 10 million per, we over paid.

    Wanna know what's sad?

Given that his competition is John Beck and Rex Grossman, Kellen Clemens is probably the best QB on their roster.

When you look at that, Santonio's decision to turn down Snyder's big bucks makes a lot more sense doesn't it
